  1. If Abramson does bring in another amusement park company, please move them away from the airport. SFKK had all kinds of crazy height restrictions, not to mention there is only so much land they can use. If you want a park that is going to be successful you need to move it away from the airport.
  2. Apparently the mayor of Louisville is trying to work with Six Flags and the KEC to put a deal together. Don't know if it'll happen (probably not) but they're trying. SFKK is one of the largest employers in the state. Losing it would be a huge blow to the already struggling economy in the area. I'm kinda surprised the KEC didn't try to make a deal (although according to them they didn't know SF's was going to close it until it hit the news.) KEC is going to be losing the University of Louisville basketball team to a new arena next year and now this. There will be almost no reason to go there when its not time for the state fair which they use SFKK's rides as a midway.
  3. I worked there the last couple summers and everyone is devastated. We learned from the news. They just had a rehire party a couple weeks ago.
  4. I just don't see a whole lot of people paying $30 to $40 just to swim. You could go to a public pool for less or just get a pool of your own. Also the waterpark is not open as long as the main park is. It usually opens at the end of May and closes in September and I don't think its open during the fair either. I do hope they get more rides in there though. There hasn't been any major ride since Greezed Lightnin' in 2003. Also this leaves 4 active coasters at the park (Greezed, RRX, T2, and TR) Do you guys think thats enough to draw people there? Perhaps I'm wrong and I kinda hope that I am but I just don't think it looks good for SFKK's future. I like the idea of moving it away from the airport, that way you can add more rides with higher height limits. Although I know that is very expensive and probably won't be feasible for at least a few years or so.
  5. Making money is going to be a whole lot harder if your main attraction is gone. They better hope that the waterpark expansion is good enough to draw a lot of people.
  6. And who are you to confirm it? I worked there at one point and have many friends that still do. If you want me to name them, I won't because I don't want to get them in trouble. So you can believe me or not. I won't blame you either way.
  7. The employees were told last week that it was happening. They haven't said what they'll do with that area yet. Some of the employees I talked to are afraid that this could be the beginning of the end for SFKK but no one is sure.
  8. Chang is being moved. Today was the last day to ride it and the park closed early. So Chang is no more.
  9. I use to work at this park and for the most part it is awesome. I loved working with most of the people there and made some good friends. Thunder Run is one of my favorite rides even if it is kinda rough. I remember riding it when I was like 10 years old and busting my lip on the handles. I still ride it whenever I can. I also like T2 so maybe I just like punishment, although I'm not a big fan of RoadRunner because of the sharp turns at the top. I have no idea what they're going to do with Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls. The official reason we were given was that it was being "reevaluated for future expansion" or something like that. I've heard many conflicting stories about what they're going to do with it but nothing from anyone higher up that would know for sure. The most common is that TT is gone but MHF is staying. But again none of this is confirmed and is all heresay. It's all stuff someone has heard from someone else who heard it from someone else and so on. I do hope they reopen it though and soon.
  10. I was really confused by this policy. The jackets and cameras were one thing, but we saw backpacks and beach bags on all the coaster when we were there this year. The even more bizarre part was you could leave prizes won on the games at the stations. Tonight at SF Great America, I was also dumbfounded by the ride op in the back side. There was no line but the main operator said "there are no re-rides." So what does the other operator do? Tells the kids to sneak into a seat. Simply amazing. At the place I use to work, riding without supervisor permission will get you fired. We could test ride in the morning before the park opens but not during regular park hours unless a supervisor says it ok. I did have a sup run the ride for me once right before the park closed and let me ride. He was really cool
