  1. Personally, I feel that 3/4 of the SFMM B&Ms are pretty bad coasters in terms of smoothness. Batman, Scream, and Riddler are awesome in their own ways, and Batman has even earned a high spot in my favorites list, but I rode all of them over two days (at least once on each day) and they were all rough for B&Ms. On Scream!, I really felt the vibrations in the bottom of the loop and during the Zero-G Roll. I got off the ride dizzy and appalled to some extent at the roughness of the ride. Batman was OK, I guess, basically all Zero-Gs I've been through are kinda rough, but the vibrations kinda hit during the wingovers. Riddler, oh god. I didn't even care to re-ride, I only rode it twice over the two days. Plus, it's the king of the puke aggravators at SFMM.
  2. Believe it or not, up till 2005 I was fairly scared of coasters myself. My son was scared of them until he tried CA Screamin' in 2007, so I'm pretty much experienced with having fears for rides. Here are some of my ways I try [to get my son or myself] to overcome the fear. ~ If you're afraid of backing out of the line, hit up a coaster with little/no wait time. This will give you less time to change your mind about riding. Sometimes, if you want to go in the other direction, go for a long line so that you have plenty of time to rest before the ride ~ If you're afraid of coasters crashing, get on something that you feel comfortable with (that looks safe enough). Or you could do a little research beforehand to see what rides or what kind of rides have perfect/good safety records, like B&Ms in general ~ If you're afraid of getting stuck somewhere on the coaster, don't worry because eventually you'll be able to get off the coaster ~ If you're afraid that the brakes fail (which is a very uncommon accident), maybe you could go on a ride running one train (OK this one's a stupid one but it just might work) Hope this helped in some way(s)
  3. These are some of the funniest ones I've heard.... On Tatsu: (I suppose the guy mistook it for an inverted coaster) Guy: Hey, man! Me: Yeah? Guy: I wonder....what if the restraints don't lock properly? Won't you fly right into the front of the big loop thing? Me: Uhh, no, you would fall face-first down to the ground first. Guy: Why should that happen? Inertia states that an object in motion would carry on moving in the same direction! Me: nevermind, the ride's safe. OK, first of all, why isn't he concerned about falling out at any other part then?! And second, the law of inertia only states something along the lines of an object in motion tends to remain in motion, and an object at rest tends to remain at rest - nothing about direction. Not wanting to be a nerd, but that guy's a nerd WANNABE. I'm not sure if this counts, because the funny guy was actually the ride-op. Guy getting off Scream!: Bleurghhh! *Throws up on exit platform. *Everyone covers their nose* *Ride Operator cleans up, while guy and friends just wait on the platform* Guy: Bleurrghh! *Pukes again this time on exit line* Ride Op: Do me a favor, go puke on Batman instead! (A train on Superman: The Escape @ SFMM goes up the spike and falls backward) Boy: Mom, does it go backward? Mom: No, roller coasters can't go backward! Don't be so silly!
  4. Hey there, I'm not a regular at SFMM, but I might have some helpful tips (maybe not, I've only been twice). I think if your son can do stuff like Goliath, Tatsu, and Viper, he'll do fine on Superman. If it's the 400+ height thing that throws him, then the ride only goes up like 300 feet and you'll be distracted by the Superman at the top! Also, I think FlashPass is worth it only if there are really long lines for rides like Goliath or Riddler, because those take slightly longer to load. Ride Batman early, because once there's a queue, you're gonna be standing in a hot, smelly "sewer" for like half an hour. Riddler seems to be a popular one for everyone to barf on, so expect mild delays from that. (This is Magic Mountain service!) It's a shame that your son can't do X2 - it's really very good. But he already seems quite daring for his age, riding stuff like Batman and Tatsu. Oh well..... So, I hope this helps. If it's inaccurate, anyone can correct me and I'll edit my post so that I don't confuse you with wrong information!
  5. 1. Batman (SFMM) 2. Silver Bullet 3. ------------- 4. ------------- 5. ------------- I really wish I can ride more inverts!
  6. Hello. Do you know me? If you are also on Atari, you probably do. If you don't, I'm disneyland123 and I'm new to the forums of TPR. I've looked here before but never registered or signed in. So I hope I like it here! The reason I joined is to post updates of my current park, Rosewood Creek. The park already has some updates - this update is the fifth to be exact - but to follow up on the first four updates, you can go to Atari Forums and check. Anyways, I'll give a little summary on my park before I begin the update. Rosewood Creek is a small little park in Pennsylvania, meant to compete with Hersheypark. It opened in 1989, and right now, it's the end of 1990. Next year's addition will be a TOGO standup called Viper. Rides: Corkscrew Caverns - An Arrow Dynamics custom looping coaster with one inversion and a high-speed tunnel Forest Runner - A PTC woodie featuring a layout through the park's rugged terrain, lots of airtime, and a 540 degree helix finale The Big Wheel - The park's family-sized ferris wheel HotRod - Hot rod themed scrambler attraction Spark of Insanity - The park's Disk-O ride Tilt-a-Whirl - The classic family attraction found at most fairs SkyTower - An observation deck with a top of 200 feet tall Chaos - The whirling and rotating fairground ride - a must have for any small park! Mountain Wheel - A double skywheel providing a completely different view of the park that the SkyTower does And coming next year... Viper - A thrilling TOGO standup featuring a compact layout, a 7-storey loop, and a 540 helix Off-Season Season Passholders Extra Day 1990 So here I am again at the entrance of one of my favorite parks now, Rosewood Creek! Whoa, whoa, whoa! Looks like Hotrod is bringing a new definition to the word upchuck! It's easy to re-ride, that seems to be our little puke problem here.... Corkscrew Caverns doing good as usual. It's still keeping quite smooth for now, dunno how it may be in a few years time. The Tilt-a-Whirl has been a hit with families this year, although it's not too popular today. It is the off-season, after all. Not everybody has season passes, although with Viper next year I think it'll be worth it! They replaced the fence with a large metal door. And the real reason I came today - the backstage tour of the new section, The Wild West! It's really incomplete, hope they can finish it up before the season starts next year! Since the path connecting to The Wild West hasn't been built yet, we relied on this dirt track to get ourselves to Viper. The train roars right through the loop. Looks like it's gonna be an intense little standup. Although with Iron Wolf opening this year, it might not compare up to this new company's ride - I must say that it was an awesome ride when I went on that standup. The ride is incredibly compact. It packs in a loop, a 540 helix, an air hill, and bunny hops into a small space. The signature "TOGO Tilt" of the ride is in a tunnel! And they gave us a copy of the storyline for Viper as we were leaving the park. "Once, in an old town were three outlaws who formed a group called the Bashin' Bandits, known for their extreme violence and use of weapons. Together they stole gold from all over the town, and from nearby towns as well. Legend has it, they had a secret stone cabin in which they stashed their treasure deep in the forests, but no one had ever found it. "Then one night, there was a thunderstorm. Lightning flashed, and thunder crashed as the rain fell like a gang of pranksters dropping bucketloads of water on a single person. The gang hid in their cabin that night, waiting for the morning to come... "The next morning, the sun shined, and the grass glistened with rainwater. But unfortunately, disaster struck. The rain had irritated a nearby snake, and the snake was all too ready to attack. The gang stared at it, wide-eyed and frozen, before the snake slithered towards them. Terrified, they ran towards their cabin - disturbing the viper in the process. The viper chased after them, and they abandoned their treasure in the cabin, and ran off into the distance, never to be seen by the townspeople ever again. "Today, the stone cabin still stands locked in the woods - no one has ever been able to pry open the lock. But every night on the same day that the Bashin' Bandits disappeared, a thunderstorm strikes the town again and the rain is hard enough to disturb any creatures nearby..... "It's time for you to make your escape..." They used this as a sort of poster.... Please reply. Next time I visit will be opening day, 1991!
