Hello TPR - long time reader, first time poster!
Ive recently been on holiday to visit the in-laws who live in Tenerife (one of the canary islands, off the coast of Africa) which is a big holiday spot for us brits.
While there we visited Siam Park, which is a new waterpark over there, I think its been open about 6 months now. We were lucky to hit the park ou of season and on a quiet day so there were no queues and we really hammered this place, it was excellent.
Ive brought it to you guys because the theming of this place is beyond incredible, Id go so far as to say it beats the disney water parks in Florida (which ive visted). Also some of the rides are really different and have cool details which you dont expect and certainly impressed me.
After having a quick read of the leaflet in the park the building design and scenery was approved by the Dean of Architechture at Bankok University and the royal family approved of the designs (as long as none were too similar to Royal or Religious buildings) and the equivilent of the Princess opened the park.
It boasts some worlds first and some world records too which is pretty impressive for what is a pretty small place and to say its on an island that doesnt have much else in the sense of theme parks. (There is a very poor water park and a zoo, thats about it)
Anyway on with the pictures...
These flags surround the park, Shame I couldnt get one decent picture, also check out the stunning views from the park!
The Entrance building is beatuiful
Just in the entrance is a Sea Lion enclosure
Up the ramp you will find the 'floating market' where the shops and resturaunts are, all suspended above either the lazy river or fish filled ponds.
A view from the market to the 'main ride' Tower of Power
The Tower of Power is a pretty standard ride, except the theming kicks ass
And similar to Aquatica you go through a fish and crocodile enclosure
As does the Lazy River, note the thin tube for ToP and people on the lazy river
The lazy river is the worlds longest and highest thanks to the lift hill! It also features something Ive never seen before - a rapid section, sadly I didnt get any pictures but it was rough and fast and amazing. Similar to the lift hill the rapids is an option.
There is a massive wave pool with beach, the waves are apparently the largest man made in any park at just over 3meters high and there are regular surfing lessons.
Tower of Power and 'The Giant' a space bowl ride except in a ring and it duels
The Dragon, a torndado ride with smoke, lights, roaring and bloody big dragon hanging over the edge
Naga race, just a standard lay down on a matt slide
For kids the 'lost city' lots of climbing, guns, slides and a massive tipping bucket. The slides were excellent and many had fibre-optic lights changing colour inside.
Finally an overview of the back of the park, which I love because you can see the plantlife and detail the park has made compared to the volcanic rock behind it.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed the pictures.
