  1. I spent many a school trip at Pharoh's, and while I liked the water park I thought the minigolf was kind of neat. Not as many courses as Castle Park but well themed and such. Pharoh's went downhill FAST, though, and while the beginning of the park's life was promising and fairly nice, near the end it became incredibly trashy. The last time I went to Pharoh's (girl scout trip) someone had etched a homophobic slur into my mom's car, which was just a little bit of a downer.
  2. Oh, I just saw this the other day and got all giddy. The art is VERY Wayforward, which makes sense since Wayforward is making it and etc. Congratulations, I'm really looking forward to this. Oh, and dumb question: Did you have any association with the DS Boy and his Blob game that has since vaporized?
  3. I personally haven't, but my mom's wife used to be a liaison to certain celebrities at the now defunct Disney Gallery at Disneyland. Apparently, Julie Andrews is incredibly nice, Kobe Bryant has a lot of money (surprise) and Thomas Kinkaide is a bit of a drinker. Also Kelsey Grammer nearly knocked her down trying to get to a buffet.
  4. My hometown park! I'm glad to see that Castle Park is still open and still has their train ride, which I always loved when I was young. I'm sorry to see the thunderbolt closed down, I used to be a huge fan of it. Ghostblasters is a pretty average ride, to say the least. You didn't miss much. Then again, a huge part of me is bitter that they took out two levels of the Castle Park Arcade to put it in. They got rid of a vintage Tapper machine, damnit. Tapper! Was the actual park itself in good condition? Last time I went (2005) it seemed a bit crummier than when I used to go once a month during high school. Also: It is pretty cool. And very big, there's 4 different courses. It's seriously the best minigolf in the Inland Empire. Scandia (another park) is OK, and Pharoh's (yet another!) is better than Scandia, but Castle Park is just divine. They used to have giant rocking style horses near the entrances to the different courses that were totally. awesome.
  5. I once had a woman talk with me (a passholder, obviously, from not only the garb but the pass around her neck and the pintrading pin lanyard and etc) about how the streets of heaven contain the Mulan Parade.
  6. I'm Brigitta, longtime theme park enjoyer and ride liker. I grew up in Southern California and spent much of my time going to theme parks growing up, especially Disneyland. At one point, my mom's wife got a job at DL and I would go every Friday. This led to a) me appreciating a lot of the secluded, quieter parts of the park and b) me becoming BATSHIT AFRAID of a lot of giant dudes with fannypacks who would get into shouting matches online as to whether or not the Mulan Parade was the greatest parade of all time. All searches online for a place to talk about theme parks led to finding forums that seemed in the same I AM SO UTTERLY SERIOUS ABOUT THEME PARKS > attitude, so finding this site late last year was a delight. Some of the parks I spent my childhood/late teens at include: Disneyland (for obvious reasons, although them getting rid of the art gallery makes me sad), Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags (only went twice, didn't really like it either time), Universal (which I actually loved despite the Spider Man Rocks trainwreck of a stageshow), Sea World San Diego, and local theme park Castle Park (whose old school, four story arcade was the greatest thing about the Inland Empire). Now I live in Texas and oh boy this is not as fun of a place to live if you enjoy theme parks. Even Sea World San Antonio is kind of a letdown.
