  1. Where do you see the name in that article? It says KD's coaster name is Intimidator but it never mentions Carowinds name. I'm going with White Lightning.
  2. Carowinds coaster to be themed to none other than: http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/unrestricted/entry/view/30668/get_ready_for_the_intimidator_roller_coaster And no I did not make that picture in the article.
  3. Pics from announcement on page 19 here: http://www.kdfansite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=714&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=270
  4. Picture of supports being installed: http://kdfansite.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0
  5. Jason Deane is reporting from KD saying supports are going up on site. Vertical construction has begun.
  6. Perhaps they're getting a hyper lite? seeing as how KD's coaster is certainly more than double the $11 million price tag that CW's is. Possible but I doubt it. The $11 million isn't the total price tag either.
  7. One more day until people complain about how it's not tall, long, or fast enough.
  8. In fact, I've taken the art of future coaster speculation one step further, and have already ridden the "New for 2015" coaster. I won't say where they found the room for it, and it has more airtime than Millennium Force. That's all I'm going to reveal. Discuss. AQUATRAX.
  9. You are about 179 pages too late with that comment. 180 pages now.
  10. Good question. Not sure. I believe the total cost of the ride is $25 million though. They just posted on Screamscape that the coaster would cost roughly $11 million do to the fact they are building in South Carolina thus getting a large tax break. To date, Carowinds has spent about $14 million on that section of the park. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/stories/2009/08/17/daily12.html On what is my question. If on the new ride, then it would be $25 million. $14+$11=$25 That's where my figure came from and would be about right for a hyper with the down construction costs.
  11. Good question. Not sure. I believe the total cost of the ride is $25 million though.
  12. $11 million is not the total cost of the ride from what i've heard. The track and layout definitely point to a hyper coaster.
  13. There are footers by the south gate. This has been confirmed. Footers as far as the eye can see:
  14. Don't take Beemer's comment seriously--he's just kidding around. Entemann's should so have some sort of arrangement with Intamin. GeForce donuts could be epic! But my post was a joke too.
  15. From Flewthecoop26 on CarowindsConnection. Full thread: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2772&start=525 Grey supports: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/download/file.php?id=209 Log flume site: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/download/file.php?id=210 Further up site in parking lot: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/download/file.php?id=213
  16. WOAH! So you're suggesting they're gonna follow traditional coaster building plans on this one? I tell ya, it's easy to see why Intamin builds great stuff. Those guys are always one step ahead of everyone else. I hope this whole "supports on top of footers" works out well. It could revolutionize the industry. Just excited to see vertical construction finally start. Relax. You don't have to go make posts to make me look stupid either. I guess people like me can't get excited without people like you ruining it.
  17. Photo update from Clint: http://www.kdfansite.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=80
  18. Supports are being moved back into the site area where the footers are poured.
  19. Due to the economy, construction costs are down. You can build something now for 25% less than what it would have cost a year ago. Even with that though, I highly doubt this coaster will cost only $11 million to build. Sounds like a misleading article to me. Good explanation from Jonathan can be found here also: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/viewtopic.php?t=2805&f=13
  20. Looks like vertical construction might start tomorrow. Supports that are inside the fence are apparently being moved onto flatbed trucks.
  21. It's only one person who seems to always spell inversion wrong. Yeah, it's a horizontal piece of track. Turn it sideways and it becomes vertical.
  22. Looks like drop pieces have begun to arrive on site and they appear to be steep. Pics on page 28: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2772&start=405
  23. Well, District 9 did come out today in theaters so you might be onto something.
