  1. That thing cost them $55 million? Looks like it's worth half of that if even that. They paid $55 million for a ride that keeps breaking down. Sad. Even for a new ride, it shouldn't be having the problems it's having.
  2. I haven't had a season pass to Carowinds since 2004. That is definitely changing. This ride looks sweet. The reason they look strange is because they're new and different. That is a very good thing in my opinion. It's got several new or tweaked elements other B&M hypers don't have.
  3. According to people on CarowindsConnection, upper management is thinking about leaving the parking lot pavement and theme it towards NASCAR/Dale Earnhardt.
  4. How? This has got everything Goliath doesn't. 3 Bunny hills in a row, no mid course brakes, and I'm sure CF will find at least three places to put some trims in there. Gotcha. Thanks. I imagine there will be trim brakes on this unfortunately.
  5. Great photo gallery from Jonathan of the announcement event here: How anybody can complain about an Intamin Giga or B&M hyper is beyond me.
  6. A trick by Dani Swords, who is the PR person at Carowinds.
  7. How? This has got everything Goliath doesn't. I wouldn't even bother responding to such a well thought out, intelligent post. Anyway, I've added the POV and Offride rendering videos to the announcement post in case you haven't seen them already: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=799445#799445 --Robb Good point. This ride is taller, longer, and faster than Goliath. It has more interesting turns too.

  11. Could be the tallest B&M hyper ever built. Either that or just a record breaker for the park and southeast.
  12. Interesting article on Freestyle Music Park here: http://www.thestate.com/business/story/913798.html
  13. Proof? Not saying you're wrong. Just want some evidence to back up the claim.
  14. Yes, you did miss something. The skytower is taller than 285 feet, which means that is not the maximum height.
  15. This coaster is $25 million as it is. If the elements were any taller, we're talking about a coaster that only Disney or Universal could afford...probably upwards of $35+ million. I don't know. I would have been more happy with something around 250 feet tall and twice as long. I still think this is a great looking ride though for KD and will definitely try to make it up there to ride it.
  16. I'm still trying to figure out why so many of you guys are complaining about an Intamin giga-mega-lite. Seriously, it's not going to be as bad as you all say it will be. In fact, it will probably kick a$$! They already spent $25 million on this, so why spend too much more to make the layout longer? Millennium Force isn't very long and it's still an amazing ride. Maverick's OTSR's do not make it a bad ride. It's not like they build coasters to appeal to us overly needy coaster enthusiasts. You guys don't realize how lucky you are to be getting a coaster like this. Sadly, here in Colorado, the most badass coaster is a Vekoma SLC, so consider yourselves lucky. Where was I complaining in that post? All I said was that they could have made the coaster twice as long if they used less beefy track. Does it mean I hate this ride? No. I guess people can't have opinions on anything anymore. If it's positive it's ok, but if it's negative than not.
  17. Still trying to figure out why they made the track so beefy. They could have made the track half the size and made this coaster twice as long like B&M does with their hypers.
  18. A good photo update here of construction from Carowinds facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2283026&id=91085023598#/album.php?aid=100607&id=91085023598
  19. More like two minutes. The good news is people are expecting a B&M hyper like Diamondback and not something that will be over 300 feet tall and over two miles long.
  20. Actually CF is clever by using those colors. Red is a color that stimulates hunger, therefore making you want to eat. Yellow is a color that stimulates energy and happiness making you have a better day at the park and wanting to come back. Sounds like McDonald's.
