  1. I know. There is a big difference in digital, and film. I wish I had a digital camera back then. At the time, I was using an advantex camera. I thought it was all that and a bag of chips back then. Geauga lake was around for a hundred years. At least until cedarfair took over.
  2. Ok....Time for a HUGE update. This time around, we have a few more old cedar point pictures, a behind the scenes look at mean streak, and some more geauga lake pictures. Enjoy.... Remember the old dodgems? They used to be where top thrill dragsters tower is now. The bumper cars have made there way to michigans adventure. Another shot of the I don't know how to spell it ride. White water landings drop. The main entrance of wwl. The line was longer than what shoot the rapids line today. One of the halloween shows at peanuts playground. Ok, now on to our behind the scenes tour of mean streak. Some of the rides structure. A train full of people wizzing by. Looking up into the structure. You don't relize how big the structure of this ride is, untill you stand inside of the structure. What happens when the ride rolls back? They use a crane to get it off the track. The lift hill chain in all of it's greasy glory. A walk up the lift, gives way to a great reverse shot of the lift. The transfer track controles. Track porn. I hope nobody sends a train. A beautiful sunset every night on lake erie. Mean streaks computer room. The advanced computer that runs the ride. A lot of coaster geeks would want to shut this off. What is it you ask.....Well it's what controls the trims on the first drop. Spare bolts and other ride parts. The lift motor. The coasters control panel. Monitors, so they can keep an eye on you. Lap bar anyone? Or how about some lift hill chain? A view of the ride from the block brakes. The block brakes. Ok....now a few more looks at geauga lake. This was the flume ride. Another look at the main midway fountain. Batman....err....dominators sign. Beer tap. Dominators test seat. I love how they just scraped off the batman logo. Texas twister. I spent a lot of money on the beer slide. Another park booklet. I think this was from 2002. Looks like fun.
  3. Ok, I think I just found the last of my geauga lake pictures. These were taken the first year that cedarfair took over. After these, I have a ton of behind the scenes pictures of mean streak. A look back at the park from the floating boardwalk. It still looked like a sea world. The yo yo not quite together yet. Parts of the park still resembled sea world. Remember this cool looking airplane in front of the 2d theater? I wonder what they did with it? I remember dumping a cup of water over amy head. It was a hot day, and I thought it would cool her off. Needless to say, she was not happy. Notice the kiddie coaster in the background? The courtyard by double loop. Another look from the boardwalk. I am not sure, but I think that this was the dolphin interaction area.
  4. I wish I did. I was maybe 14 years old, and did not have a camera back then....god am I old...lol Next up, I have the media kit for Drop zone and face off at paramounts kings island. Here is the cover of the media folder. They had a bunch of park promo pictures inside. More.... I like this one. Here is the front page of the kit. There were about 20 more pages, but they more or less say the same things.
  5. Tomorrow, I will post faceoff and son of beast media kits from kings island.
  6. The next set of pictures is of top thrill dragster construction, and thr ex hercules coaster at dorney park. Walking down the midway, you can see dragster start to rise. A view from the magnum gate. There is a lot going on. People walk by, looking at dragster rise. This was maybe about 1/4 the height of the ride. Supports waiting to be put in place. Track pieces. Pieces just sitting there. It looked like a big erector set. This is what hercules at dorney park looked like. The station and transfer track.
  7. Here is the maps and booklets I have from seaworld, and geauga lake. The sea world booklet, is from 1996. The sfwoa maps are from 200, and 2001. I even put in my season pass from 2004. Sea world 1996. Six flags woa Park booklet. Sfwoa 2001 ride side map. 2001 wildlife side map. 2004 Season pass.
  8. You can see that building really good when you cross the bridge. I have some old cedar point park maps, show times and menu. The park map is from 1991.....the park has changed so much since then. The menu is from I think 1996 The show guide is from 1996. Park guide from 1991. Park map from 1991. Red garter menu from I think 1996. Notice how much the prices have gone up? Show schedule for june 22-aug 25 1996 Show times.
  9. I have a lot of memories as a child going to boblo island. So when I found these booklets, I was suprised. I just found out a few weeks ago, that the falling star at michigans adventure is from boblo island. I have a ton more pictures and other older park maps to share. I will post some more real soon.
  10. This sounds great. Just have to make sure I have the time off to go. Has there been any news on the six flags chicago trip yet?
  11. Thank's. I just keep finding more pictures. I never knew I had this many.\ Here are a few more geauga lake pics. One of the coaster events I went to at geauga lake. Big dippers birthday party. Texas twister. Looking across the lake at sunset. Remember the aqarium back at cedar point? Here is what was left of it when they were building wicked twister. This was one of the best looking rides in the park. But I still can't spell it's name. Boobs!!
  12. Wow.... I am starting to question weather or not to continue this thread. Only one reply so far. Here are just a couple of park brochures Boblo island, and a letter from George Boeckling of cedar point. I found a few old boblo island items. Park map. A close up of the park map. List of major rides. Random pictures of the attractions. Park hours. Back of booklet. This is an old letter from the G.A Boeckling CO at cedar point. The letter is dated 1928.
  13. Found an old picture of chang. This was taken from our hotel room.
  14. Thank you. Here are a few more. These are from the very last day geauga lake was ever open!! At the time, nobody knew this. I would have taken more pictures had I known. More pictures real soon. The old logo The haybailer ride. Raging wolf bobs sign. Double loop corkscrew coaster. I really did like this ride. It's a shame that it ended up in the scrap heap. Double loop sign and entrance. Double loops lift and helix The station. One of the last standing buildings from sea world. The ski stadium. Head spin sign. Head spin was a typical boomerang coaster. It can now be found at carowinds. Head spin station. Thunderhawk lift. Station signs. Thunderhawk panel. The villan sign. It's a shame this coaster ended up in the scrap heap. It was a ruff ride, but had a great layout. Turnaround. Brake run just before the station. The trains were not the best. The station was themed really nice. Grizzly rapids sign. It was the last day of october fest. The park was packed, and nobody knew it was the very last day the park would ever be open. The fountain near the main gate. There were plenty of signs around that this was once a six flags park. Batman...errr....Dominator. It used to be over a swamp. Dominators station. The flume rides boat was sitting on the midway. I think it ended up at silver dollar city. Dino island 3d ride. Anybody that was a regular at the park, would remember this from the log flume. It's the famous "glory hole". An old family picture from sea world, looking over tourds geauga lake. I think this was taken in the 80's sometime. The very last shot I ever took at geauga lake park. This was near the parks exit. I guess the staff all knew it was the end. Back at cedar point, here are a few shots of the old peanuts playground. I also found a shot of chang. This was taken from our hotel room next to the park.
  15. Got a few from canadas wonderland. Hope they help you out. Boo blasters Dark ride vehicles The rage swinging ship.
  16. We are getting ready to move in a month, and while packing things up, I came accross boxes of old pictures. These are just a few of them. It takes a long time to scan them and post them, so I will do a little at a time. We start out with some pictures of cedar point. There are a bunch of the white water landing, and the sea aquarium and pirate ride remains. Some pictures are a little dark, as I took most of them before I ever had a digital camera. There are also a few pictures from geauga lake. I hope you enjoy them. I will be posting more as I have time to do so. I have a lot of old park maps as well. We start off at a look at white water landings cave. A look at the maintnance shop They used to repair the boats in the maintanance shop. A peek under the rotating platform for white water landing. The snaking flume. While up there, you got a great view of lake erie and mean streak. A good look at mean streak. The big drop at the end of the ride. Lake erie as seen from white water landing. A few of the remains of the original shoot the rapids ride. Wildcat before the horrid pait job it has today. The original dodgems sign. Before planet snoopy, there was the peanuts playground. The beach midway before wicked twister. Notice the aqarium? The aqarium was turned into an arcade after all the fish were taken out. Now we move on to geauga lake. If you looked to your left near the front gate, you would see villions turnaround. A little bit of the coaster. If you looked to your right, you would see x flight. Walking to the main gate. The log ride. A look at sea world the year it closed. A look at the east side of the park from the ferris wheel. Back at cedar point, we see the old pirate ride building sitting empty. The only sign of the ride is the tracks it left. One last look at the final drop of white water landing.
  17. Diden't they used to have a swing ride next to the ferris wheel?
  18. After riding the slc at Michigans adventure within a week or riding the slc at sfa, I am amazed at the difference. The slc at sfa was BAD. I have been on most of the slc coasters in america, and this ranks as the worst. We even rode the front seat on this thing.
  19. Check out kalahari right down the street from the park. They have several bars and plenty of nice rooms. Plus you get the water park as well.
  20. Thank you. They do have the thomas town now, but the rest of the park is just a mess theming wise.
  21. You have to remember 2 things. 1. We don't even know yet how the reprofile and new track are going to be. 2. It is quite pricy to do this. You have to wonder how many parks would be willing to put up that kind of money to redo a coaster. The price of a new coaster is less than this redo. I have not been on this coaster yet, but I have heard horror stories about it. How did it compare to mean streak? Was is just as bad, or worse?
  22. Gee.... How silly of me to ask the question on an amusement park discussion board. What's the point of having a board if everyone can just look things up on google?
  23. Yea. There were areas in the park where it looked like they just plopped a ride down to fill in an empty space. The park kinda looked like a carnival in places, but also looked really nice in other parts. The got ham section of the park looked the worst. The main street area looked almost as good as something Disney would do. The area where skull mountain was, I was not sure of the theme they were going for. Part of the area was themed to pirates, and part of the area was themed to the old west.
  24. A friend of mine just told me that the first coaster at michigans adventure was the corkscrew. Anybody know if this is true? I always thought it was wolverine wildcat or zacks zoomer.
  25. More... Roar sign Wooden madness Whats left of the invertigo coaster. The gigantic lift hill.
