Thanks to everyone for the nice comments! I also forgot to mention that we did the Frozen Dessert Party. Totally worth it BTW!! -
After making the short drive to DTW (Detroit Metro Airport) we left for a 7 night Anniversary vacation to the gorgeous Coronado Springs Resort and Walt Disney World. We have never stayed at this resort before, and we were pleasantly surprised. Walking around the resort you could tell that Disney didn't rush the beautiful landscaping and design. We stayed club level in the first building next to the main entrance. CLub level offered us morning breakfast from 7-10 and snacks in the evening with beer and wine from 5-10 The Bus stop was a 2 minute walk from our room. The resort was perfect and we were treated perfectly by the entire staff. 7 days wasn't enough for us seasoned Disney travelers but we toughed it out. A few quick thoughts: 1. Hollywood Studios is "Frozen Mania" 2. Frozen Fireworks may be the best display on property 3. The Hub looks amazing! 4. WE LOVE DISNEY I tried very hard to not get any others guests in my photos. All pictures were taken with an IPhone 6. I hope you enjoy. Leaving Detroit Coronado Springs Resort Our home for the week. My first full report and I'm a little nervous. Great Day at the Winter Chill Out. First off let me say that Cedar Point raised over $27,000 for Give Kids the World Village this afternoon, a fantastic charity. It seemed as if every full time employee was on hand to make sure this event ran smoothly and boy did it ever. -We started off the day with a 3 hour, snow filled, drive from just outside of Detroit. Normal travel time is around 1:45. -When we arrived we were directed to the front gate parking lot and headed to the season pass center for check-in. Upon check-in we received a lanyard, schedule, and Rougarou Skull Cap. Cool! -We were then directed to the Midway Market for hot chocolate and granola bars before our tour began. Jason from Marketing was our tour guide. He walked us around the entire park throughout the day. Some highlights included: the main maintenance shed, print shop, Good Times Theater construction area, Frontier Trail, Gemini Midway, and Wicked Twister Midway construction site. -Tony Clark and Jason McClure gave a presentation in the print-shop. We were not allowed to take pictures in this area. Fun Fact: Cedar Point prints brochures and signage for all Cedar Fair parks in house. During the presentation a random picture of a RMC Zero-G Roll appeared and both brushed it off like an accident. Hi-jinx and Hilarity. During this time as well they spilled the beans on upgrades to the Wicked Twister Midway. Calypso will be moved there and re-named Tiki-Twirl, a original name of the ride I was told. Dodgem will also be moved next to Max-Air with the removal of Sir Rub a Dub Tubs. After the presentation we then were secretly escorted to another room and given the first look at the Rougarou train and allowed to sit in the train as well. Amazing! Busses that are used for the seasonal employees picked us up and drove across the park for our next stop. -Lunch was next at Chickie's and Pete's and it was great. Salad, Bacon Mac and Cheese, Grinders, Chilli, special Chill Out sugar cookies and Coke Products (all you could eat). Staff was everywhere and attentive to cleaning tables and making sure everyone had what they needed. Really Cool. Never a complaint about the food at these kinds of events at Cedar Point, they are always fantastic and always go out of their way to make sure that everyone there is happy and having a great time. -We rounded out the tour in the Maintenance building with a presentation on TTD's catch car and braking system. The ride manager even let people pull the brake fin thorough the brakes to feel the drag of the mechanism. I was as dazzled as the people who sit next to Roy Disney thinking that its Walt at MK. -On the way out we received yet another treat of Pint Glasses and a Rougarou Calendar. -Great Day and it was for a great cause. Enjoy the Photos. Sorry about the vertical photos, apparently I suck at taking pictures and just realized that today after comparing my pictures to the ones my wife took. Whoops. Free Swag Good Time Theater Construction Rougarou (Trims are still there) Millennium Force obligatory shots Hmmmmm. I couldn't resist. Naked Wave Swinger. Not very lady like. Enjoy. Breaking News: Employee sodas are only $1. What a deal! Lunch Buffet This bus was a lot more filled that it seems. Made one new friend. Lift hill porn We were not invited to Dan's party. Maybe next time. Gemini Midway This T-Rex was not happy to see us. TTD upskirt Hotel Breakers Construction Maintenance building. MF seats. Hi, This is my first post on TPR, but I am a stalkerish follower. Anyway I just found this podcast on my local favorite radio station and they discussed Cedar Point........ Well they tried to at least. The sad part is the one guy actually thinks he knows what he is talking about. Just thought some of you might get a chuckle out of it. Enjoy!!! http://wxyt.cbslocal.com/2010/06/22/the-morning-show-6-22-10-bonus-segment-cedar-point/
