  1. When you go up to The Great Escape, don't miss Magic Forest!
  2. Good question. The answer is mostly no. We don't spend a lot of time repeating experiences unless we love them, so the visits are usually either novel, or they're a proven enjoyable quantity, if that makes any sense. I'm generally bored by repetition, so we don't re-visit many parks unless they've added something worth re-visiting. It's also fun to re-visit parks when we're with new people or with friends, which is one reason TPR trips are so much fun, even if you know the park already. We also enjoy traveling in general, so that means always learning new places, new languages, new kinds of food, etc. I've also managed to fold this hobby into my professional life (research and consulting), so even the boring bits have become about studying the guest experience. Yes, there are moments when Cheryl and I will look at each other and sarcastically say, "Living the Dream", but those are far and few between. At the moment, we have no plans on slowing down. We've missed credits all over the world, but the two that stick out are in Taiwan: Gravity Max at Lihpao Land (formerly Discovery World Yamay, when we visited) and Diving Machine G5 at at Janfusun Fancyworld. We went in April, which is a low season there, so there was a lot of maintenance downtime. The parks weren't crowded, but not everything was running. We missed one other credit in Taiwan, so we're thinking about a return in 2014. Thanks for checking out the report and thanks for the thoughtful questions.
  3. Just saw this. Brilliant. Gotta love it.
  4. There are four NorCal parks in the 2011 report (Happy Hollow, John's Incredible Pizza, Micke Grove, and Oakland Zoo). We haven't been to the majors since 2008. We know we're overdue.
  5. Apropos of nothing, this shirt comes from Pronto Pups at Indiana Beach! Front: Back:
  6. Disneyland Resort, Magic Mountain, and Knott's were over Thanksgiving. We flew in Thursday and out on a red-eye Saturday night!
  7. No, Freestyle Music Park is not in this year's count! I didn't show the photos but we did actually go into the old parking lot and take photos of the remains. The 75th park, not shown, is Ocean Beach Park in Connecticut. Dixieland and Castles-n-Coasters are basically very large and elaborate FECs, with Dixieland a little more like a park, and C-n-C a little more like an FEC. Both were fun and worth a visit.
  8. One of my all-time favorites. In fact, it's one of my only shirts for which I have multiple copies and versions! Gotta give it up for those who help us do what we love to do! Happy Holidays to everyone at Theme Park Review! Front: Back:
  9. ^^^ The pleasure was ours, Chris! Thanks for checking out the report everyone!
  10. Another great year! We hit 75 parks this year and now I share them with YOU. There's no commentary, just the name of the park, with occasional geographic info. Unfortunately, we seem to not have any pictures of Connecticut's Ocean Beach Park, although both Cheryl and I remember taking photos. I must have mistakenly deleted them. So I'm throwing in a second picture from Adventureland Long Island, 'cause I went there twice. And there's a "bonus" park. See if you can catch it. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to Everyone! 11. I'm visiting my mother in Connecticut today, wrestling her insane cat into a carrier for the vet. In honor of the Nutmeg State, I give you Boulderdash at Lake Compounce!
  12. Time to go retro. I did actually visit this park as a tot, and my grandfather's condo was on the land after the park had been razed. Found this great shirt online.
  13. This was the first coaster that I ever counted rides on. My 8th Grade trip to DC included a stop at BG-The Old Country and I fell in love with this thing. I rode it 22 times that one day just to get the airtime on the first drop. That was in 1980.
  14. I think the count is really just your own thing, so you get to decide what counts and what doesn't. And then you get to make fun of other people's decisions about what to count. I like coaster-count.com myself.
  15. Okay, not a park shirt, but it's still good for us enthusiasts. Rather clever, I thought. And a front and a back!
  16. Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm! Thank the coaster gods for Fast Lane! (Which doesn't work on Xcelerator) :-/
  17. No comments on the Disneyland Paris shirt. Back to Scandi! It's Gröna Lund!
  18. I'm shifting gears today. First of all, this shirt doesn't really fit, so I'm not wearing it. This is the first Disney shirt I'm showing. It's from Disneyland Paris Resort, showing rides from both Disneyland Parc and Walt Disney Studios. One photo shows the shirt and the second shows the detail.
  19. Continuing with the chilly northern theme, here's Dragon Mountain at Marineland Canada.
  20. I love that video! I'm old enough to remember the Kings Island footage from the opening credits of the Banana Splits cartoons! Does the park make the shirts for you when you deliver the design? My fan shirts have been blocked by Zazzle recently because they say I'm violating copyright with the park logo. Wait, CustomInk? Gotta try it.
  21. It's snowing here, which makes me think of cold places, like Scandi! Can't wait for our visit back to Denmark with TPR to the very charming Fårup Sommerland next year! Forgive the stretchy look of the shirt, in order to hide my gut. And here is a hilarious Fårup commercial from when we visited: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  22. Wow, thanks for the positive responses. I think I can go on for quite some time. Cheryl asked if it has to be a coaster shirt, but I think it can be a coaster or park shirt. Here's today's entry, in honor of all the SeaWorld hubbub, a shirt from SeaWorld San Antonio Texas, home of my fave, Steel Eel.
  23. ^^^ Sorry, I just saw this post! We didn't actually experience the storm. We did see some really cool lightning, but once we got into the multiplex with its Dolby surround sound, we didn't hear anything, and it seemed to have blown over by the time the movie had let out! I would assume that it was a major system because Lauren's flights from Austin to Amarillo were cancelled both that evening and the next day too. She met us in Lubbock.
