  1. Interesting. CP is definitely my "home park", and I go every year, but it does seem they have some type of monopoly on all the awards that come out year after year. Last time I was there I saw a banner in Mean Streak that read "top 10 woodie"...and I dont think I need to say anymore there. In my own opinion, they have an incredible "collection" of coasters, but what really drags CP down is the atmosphere. There is absolutely ZERO architectual continuity to the place, and very little attention to atmosphere (i.e., landscaping and eye-appeal). I love it, but here's proof someone who cares about CP can be objective.
  2. Im new to this board, but just out of curiosity, what does everyone around here have against Cedar Point? It seems like there's a clique of "it's cool to bash Cedar Point"...which is fine...but some of you really seem to have a personal vendetta against the place. Bad childhood memories?
  3. Question: What do they do when this ride gets stuck at the top of the lift? I've done a walk-down off Millenium Force and Magnum...which are both signifcantly taller...but how do you get people out of a train when it's vertical?
  4. This may sound bizarre, but Demon Drop (a true 1st generation Free Fall) is the most gut wrenching drop; especially if it's the first ride of the day. No silly air pushing you down or up, no cables, no thrust....just pure gravity as the floor comes out. Too bad it's saying goodbye.
  5. Cedar Point is up to something as well. One teasing blog post by T & T about 3 weeks ago that left everyone hanging; of course it could be for project 2009 as well, as there is typically 2 years between coasters.
  6. And what feature on any roller coaster isn't a "gimmick"? A vertical lift is a gimmick...a 97 degree drop is a gimmick...and the list goes on. Some people would also just consider the height an element; something the coaster does. The only thing about this coaster that blows is the over-the-shoulder restraints. A completely unnecessary addition that, like Maverick, leaves you wishing they weren't there. It looks good...but it certainly was not worth all the crazy web-games they played. Nothing earth-shattering about this ride, IMO.
