  1. COOL! Your hayride is one of my favorites yet!

It's good to hear that the park may/will be receiving multiple new additions in the coming year. You know, it's about that time period where Arrow started designing Suspended coasters...could be a VERY unique addition to Illum Hills...

    Can't wait for more!

Thanks! And it is the time period when Arrow Suspendeds were coming into the picture, but will it be what Mr. Illum thinks is best for the park?

  2. Thanks everyone, I know I've been slacking on updates, but my job has been occupying most of my time. Couple that with some creative block in my mind when working in RCT3 and there's going to be a long delay! So without further ado, here is the new update!

    Mine Mountain Madness

NEW FOR FALL FEST YEAR 5

    Haunted Hayride

    News:

Mine Mountain Madness still drew long crowds as the season was winding down. A spike in attendance also occurred during Fall Fest as the popularity of the event has grown and grown through the years. A new attraction has been added to Fall Fest to help alleviate some of the long lines throughout the park. Overall, the hayride was praised by park guests for its elaborate props and scenes that instilled terror into them. Lines grew to be around 3-4 hours at some points during the night!

On the business end of things, the Warner executives have been walking around the park with Ron Toomer of Arrow Development, most likely planning for a future attraction considering the success of Mine Mountain Madness. The profits for Illum Hills are really starting to outpace the expenditures, so new additions could easily be more than 1 ride in the coming years. There has also been rumors that people representing Six Flags have been in the park, but none have met with David Illum or Lee Yardston, so maybe they are scoping out the park as a possible purchase.

On the maintenance end of things, Double Take has had some problems lately with downtime. Ever since it got repainted, the launch motors have been having problems getting trains off the second platform and getting the train off at the correct speed, leading to constant valleying. Lee Yardston is starting to get impatient with the ride, but Mr. Illum still treasures the ride as it is a park original.

Here is the photo update from Fall Fest!

New ticket booths have been built in front of the entrance to help alleviate the long lines at the ticket building.

Pioneer has become even rougher, leading to drop in a ridership.

    The entrance to the hayride

You know it's scary when you start out passing below a demonic clown

and the first display is nothing but clowns!

    A killer robot

    The graveyard and plane crash

    Another killer robot

    A huge fire spouting demon

    The T-rex animatronic

    And finally the warzone!

Then you arrive safely back where you started.

    Stay tuned for further updates!

  3. Great Adventure is a great option, along with Hershey. Working at Great Adventure, I'll give you a few tips about the park if you decide on going there! Try and get there right around park opening, the real , large crowds don't really come into the park until around noon.

Also, I suggest buying your tickets online since they are cheaper and save you time from standing in line to buy them in the morning. You can also buy your flashpass online as well and being your voucher with you! I suggest the Gold Flashpass since it cuts 75% of the wait off, I know it's more expensive, but not having to wait as long will make your day even better! If you have any problems printing anything, make sure you get the confirmation number so we can help you out at Guest Relations!

If you arrive at the park early, say around 9, you can go through the Safari first, you can get them online for $10 a ticket when you but theme park tickets. It takes about 1/2 an hour-hour to get through, but it's a great experience. It closes at 4pm, so I highly suggest doing it before visiting the theme park!

When the park opens, the flashpass center should be your first stop if you're interested in it or already reserved it. Everyone should wear shoes, flip-flops are allowed to be left on the side of coasters, but it can be a hassle to have to fish them out from the piles of other trains' flip flops. If you aren't using a flashpass, be sure to get a ticket at the entrance of all major coasters. We're handing out numbered tickets to help combat line jumping. If you don't have your ticket, then you won't be able to ride!

Don't bring anything you won't need with you into the park if you don't want to have to use lockers. If you have a non-rider, then it shouldn't be that much of a problem. If not, try and bring the bare minimum with you and wear cargo shorts with zippered pockets to hold that bare minimum. Lockers are only $1, but they're worth it because people still ignore the signs saying no loose articles and lose their stuff! If you lose anything, it won't be retrieved until the end of the night when the ride is shut down and can be safely retrieved.

Lastly, try to get to Kingda Ka first as it can go down at really any time for a variety of reasons throughout the day. It's best just to get it out of the way first. It's also a good starting place because El Toro is nearby! You can go from Kingda Ka, past the tigers, over to El Toro and enjoy an awesome ride!

Ok, I think I've dispensed enough advice for you to enjoy your day! Have a great trip and I hope you have a great day at Great Adventure!

And yes, I did watch that video a few pages back, and I will work to see what I can do to help him.

  4. Hey there! I work at Great Adventure at the Guest Relations office and I'd be glad to help you and anyone else that may have a question about the park!

I see some people have already helped you with the buses, so I don't know if you want any more information on that. We do have bus schedules at the office, so if you want to know when the buses leave, just check with us.

If you don't buy a ticket at the bus terminal, it's only 49.99 plus tax to get in, we're offering the Big Six pass now which is six visits for the price of a one day visit, I know that's all we can sell at the GR office now. Your best bet if you're coming with someone is a Coke can, which is Buy one Get one Free on Weekdays and $15 off on Weekends. My personal advice is to buy your tickets online. Not only are they cheaper, but you can also get flashpass online as well. If you have any problems printing out your tickets, make sure you bring your receipt or confirmation number, and we can print it out at the GR office for you. You can also buy parking online to, but it will still be $15 dollars. Make sure you have that printed out so you can get through the parking booths.

When you get to the entry gates, head up main street past the fountain and go to the yellow and blue building, that's the flashpass building and it will have a long line if you don't get there first thing. I suggest a gold flashpass if you want to get every major ride in the park done in one day. Flashpass prices can be found here at this link: http://www.sixflags.com/greatAdventure/tickets/flashpass.aspx.

I'll give you my personal opinions on which rides you should go on so you can make a nice loop around the park. Go Kingda Ka, El Toro, Nitro, Batman, Medusa, The Dark Knight, and Superman. Flashpass will work really well so you don't waste too much time waiting, if you get a regular one and the line is an hour long, you should try and catch the Dolphin or Tiger shows, they are pretty cool and are nice places to sit and relax.

For eating options, my personal favorite is Best of the West. It has a great atmosphere and you can eat in the air conditioning, or out next to the log flume, or next to the lake. Granny's (over by the Big Wheel) has an all you can eat buffet for 14.99, but it's only for an hour. Johnny Rockets has the main location on Main Street with seating by the Gazebo with a cool percussion show. Nathan's Hot Dogs is in the Boardwalk along with Ted's Cheesesteak's. La Cocina is known for having great food and it is near El Toro, so you can go on Toro and then grab some nice quesadillas or nachos afterwards.

I hope you stay long enough to catch the Glow in the Park Parade at 9:10pm, it really is a great parade. The best place to view it is by the fountain, so don't miss it! There are lockers are every major ride and they cost $1, so I suggest bringing at least $10 dollars in singles so you can stow your stuff away. If you want, there are all day lockers located outside in the outer mall and inside the park over by Johnny Rockets and the Big Wheel. If you buy something in a store that you don't want to carry around, just fill out a package pick up form and at the end of the night, you can claim it over by the GR office.

There isn't really much else I can think of to suggest, but I hope you have a great day at the park and enjoy yourself! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask and if you encounter any problems at the park, be sure to stop by the GR office so we can take care of it. Have a great time and I hope I've helped you in some way!

  5. I don't understand the "shortcut" story. From the overview, it looks like after you have crossed the park perimeter fence, you're right under the ride. But the article states that they crossed 2 fences... Where is that other fence?
They hopped the park perimeter fence. The second fence they hopped was in a low zone at Batman. It's one of the fences surrounding the area where the track gets low to the ground.

I went and looked on RCDB at the placement of Batman at SFOG, it would seem that he probably hopped over the fence in this area and got hit at that low point to the left, I'm not sure though, because Batman has a few more low points in its layout.

  6. Thanks!

Hey everyone, sorry about the delay in updates, I've been very busy working and doing other things, but I'm also putting a lot of thought and design into the next update!

Here is a small preview of something new for Fall Fest Year 5!

Yes, it is a hayride complete with flames and other exciting props! The full update will come as soon as I can complete it all!

  7. All of the major coasters have test seats outside of the entrance to help determine if you're too big to close the restraint properly. My advice is to go to El Toro and sit in the test seat as it actually has a red and green light to tell you if you're not going to fit. If you get that green light, then you will be good at most, if not all, rides in the park as Toro's restraint is one of the more restrictive positions to verify the train.

  8. Thank you very much!

    Park News:

Increased attendance during the Spring led to complaints about wait times for the new attraction Mine Mountain Madness. Mr. Illum responded by putting more staff onto the new coaster and increasing dispatch times. Air conditioning was also installed into the rocky queue part for those hot summer days. An unusually hot heatwave had lines at Lumberjack Falls reaching up to 3 hours at some points. Mr. Illum said more boats were purchased from Arrow, the maker of the flume, but lines still were outrageously long, hopefully a new water ride is in the works.

Mine Mountain Madness has been commended for its high level of theme in the waiting area, but many people think the layout of it is too simple and not as thrilling as Inferno or Double Take. Despite this fact, the queue has been full almost everyday with everyone trying to get on the ride. High Noon at Garis Gulch has also proved very popular and now run 3 times a day to meet the demand. Horror at the Hills got approval to open for the Summer after Mr. Illum pleaded with the Westworth council to amend the law keeping it shuddered until the fall. He showed pictures of waits at the park's main attractions and said that opening the haunted house would help to alleviate some of these waits.

On the corporate radar, Park Manager Roger Bryant has stepped down as he is moving to California, having taken a position at Six Flags Magic Mountain as Park Director. Mr. Illum commented "Roger has done a great job and will be greatly missed, I can only wish him the best as he takes this new job at one of the largest parks around!" With the position of Park Manager now open, a Warner employee stepped in to take over the duties of a Park Manager. Lee Yardston had been working with Roger Bryant since the Summer of Year 3. "I think I made a great decision, Lee used to be Vice President of Warner Communications, so he is very well suited to manage the park!"

  9. Fantastic, simply fantastic! I love this park so much...

So will the park become "Warner Brothers Illum Hills" next season?

Nope, it will still be Illum Hills, it will just say "Illum Hills, A Warner Park"

I didnt see a list of CS where is it?

The CS List is one page back

    That Warner thing sounds interesting...

    Corporate takeover?

  10. Haha, yup, it's a little overkill I know. But the wait is over!

    New Attractions for Year 5:

    Rampage Rodeo Bulls

    High Noon at Garis Gulch

    Mine Mountain Madness

    Park News:

With a great amount of funding, the vision of Mine Mountain Madness was able to make a leap from imagination to reality. Mr. Illum was very excited as he looked over the finished product, stating "It's just so great and it feels like I'm actually at a real mine!" The new addition to Illum Hills fit right in as crowds lined up to grab their rides on the Mine Train, past abandoned buildings and through treacherous tunnels. Mine Mountain Madness is sure to be the hit of the summer.

Along with MMM, High Noon at Garis Gulch, a Western gunfight show, and Rampage Rodeo Bulls also were welcomed into the park. They helped to create a whole western themed area with their old west feel to them. Now they just need an old time photo and they'll be set!

In other park news, Warner Communications is setting up a new division called Warner Parks. Since Warner has helped so much with the park finances and the new addition, Mr. Illum has agreed to have "A Warner Park" attached to all marketing for Illum Hills starting next season. Illum Hills will be the flagship park as the division grows and grows!

Here, as always, is the photo update from the Spring!:

That empty mine feeling is really good; I think, and I love the rock formations - how do you use that set; I just can't figure that out

Thanks! The set is pretty easy to use, but it can get tricky since they don't always interlock as nicely as I'd like them to, but it looks so real!

Very cool! One of your best yet!

Thanks, I'm really getting better at this!

Mr. Illum has just notified the press that the ride has begun test runs!

  13. Here it is!

Illum Hills announces Year 5 Additions!

David Illum today unveiled his new additions to Illum Hills! A new western section will be added to the park right by Inferno with a new ride and show area! The new coaster is a being built by Arrow Development and is called Mine Mountain Madness. Guests will wind through a quiet Western town, complete with storefronts and dynamite, and then enter into the cavernous mine and wind up to the train that takes them around the area. Twists and turns await all those who dare brave the wild ride! A new show is also being added in the area to help entertain guests. The name of the show has yet to be determined, but it will be ready for opening day on April 4th!

  14. I'll be working at Six Flags Great Adventure this summer as a Guest Relations host and I'm going to be a back-up for VIP tours of the park. If you have any questions about the park or need help with a problem, I'll be glad to help you in every which way! I'm there to help make your day at Great Adventure the best day possible! I wear a white dress shirt and tie, so if you see me in the park, be sure to say hi!
