    Fright Nights

    Park News

Warner has set out to make Fall Fest a much more in depth and scarier event. This year they decorated a majority of the park, making it much more ominous and dark during the Fall Months. They also gave it a new name: Fright Nights! The walkway behind the Wonder Wheel became a terrifying walkthrough and props all around the park had surprises hiding behind them all the time.

Still no announcement by management for next years attraction, but it looks to be like a scenery laden rapids ride behind the Hills Grill. Rumors of a smaller attraction such as a bumper cars are also circulating as well.

On the corporate end of things, Warner made an offer on Marriott's Great America in Illinois but was beaten out by Six Flags. Warner seems to be interested in possibly acquiring Six Flags in the near future but probably wants to get a bit more experienced first. Something tells me a large expansion is on the horizon so they can get the experience of running a large theme park like many of the parks in the Six Flags chain.

Here is the photo update from the Fall!

The Entry Plaza decorated and declaring the new title: Fright Nights!

American Classics has expanded and looks much more appealing after its overhaul. A new Gift Shop has also been built next to it

    Double Take's graveyard

Everything had webbing on it, Pioneer's station looked great with it

The walkway behind the wonder wheel was on a whole new level from David Illum's days.

The Grand Carousel also looked cool with its lighting and webs

Even scenery was put in front of the Super Swinger

Work is progressing on the new Rapids Ride with the station taking shape, the route dug out, and scenery being put in.

    More to come soon!

  2. It seems that everyone forgot that Great Adventure has FLASHPASS. It's great that CP has a wonderful atmosphere and flats, but you won't be able to enjoy them that much if you're waiting in 2 hour lines all day. At GAdv you can get a Gold Flashpass, almost never stand in line, and get multiple rides in on El Toro, Nitro, Kingda Ka, Batman, Bizarro, and Superman, with a few others thrown into the mix.

If you ask many people who have used the Flashpass system at the park, it is well worth going to Great Adventure.

  3. Sorry for the 3 month delay, but my laptop crashed and I went through a lot of drama to get it fixed and get all of my data back! The good news is that this park was saved! As for kitkat, just start small and then try bigger and bigger buildings and scenery!

    Finally, a new update!

    NEW FOR YEAR 7:

    Tsunami Splash

    Spin Cycle

    Illum Theater

    Park News

The park had a busy Summer season, with Tsunami Splash finally relieving the pressure on Lumberjack Falls, as well as bringing more people to the back part of the park. One of the main complaints however, was that Tsunami Splash was the only thing to do back in that corner of the park! Warner has assured us that more will come! Park improvements have continued as Jolly Roger had the area surrounding it redone with rocks and plantings, American Classics is undergoing a major renovation and is expected to shrink in size as another store is added next door. The whole backstage area of the park has also gone through a huge change with new offices and employee check in buildings now built instead of the smaller trailers and buildings the park was operating out of. Inferno had a problem the other day when a wheel on the first car came loose on the first drop and damaged the first two cars of the train, nobody was hurt on the train as it saddled between the first drop and the first loop. The park found that it was overlooked by a maintenance worker and the proper action was taken. Warner is overall impressed with how well the park is faring and is committed to making it the premier destination in the region. Rumblings have come out that Warner Entertainment may be making a play for the Six Flags Chain of parks as many of their executives have been visiting their properties more and more since they licensed use of the Looney Tunes to the parks.

As for future expansion of the park, lots of flags and other heavy construction equipment have been spotted behind the Hills Grill by Tsunami splash, but nobody sure what it is yet, but some are speculating that it may a suspended coaster from Arrow!

Here is the photo update from the Summer!

The new management buildings for the park

Inferno's Damaged A Train sits on a flatbed, waiting for repair backstage.

Inferno was re-inspected and certified operable by the state in July so the B train took over while the A train got repaired

Jolly Roger with it's newly redone and better landscaped area

Lots of framing and building taking place by the front gate

Lots of flags have popped up in the back of the park

Heavy construction equipment also is present

Could it be a new coaster, or something else?

On cold summer nights, Tsunami Splash didn't see many lines

But the park still looks awesome at night!

  4. Thanks everyone, I'm glad to be back and building again!

    NEW FOR YEAR 7:

    Tsunami Splash

    Spin Cycle

    Illum Theater

    Park News

The removal of Double Take was a hard loss to take for Mr. Illum, along with the fire at the Haunted House, but he was happy to see the improvements throughout the park. There's much more staff, lockers around the park, improved lighting, and rides running more reliably. He's very happy with how the park has progressed under Warner ownership.

The park this year added a desperately needed show venue, named after its former owner and located on Double Take's old Station site. Rumors of an Ultratwister were put to rest when the theater was announced and TOGO denied being involved with the park. The old Horror Hollow section which had closed last season due to the fire, has been reopened with a new restaurant and the new Tsunami Splash, the long-awaited new water ride that soaks riders to the bone! Many new paths were built around the area, so it seems that more and more expansion is coming in the next few seasons! A new Round-up ride was also added to the park as well!

As for the rumor side of things, Ron Toomer has again been spotted in the park behind the Ferris Wheel. He also took an enjoyable ride on Black Hole, could Arrow be planning their own version of a stand-up? Sources are saying that the park will be getting a suspended coaster next season, but others are saying a mega-looper would draw more people. HUSS executives were also seen in the park over by Eagle's Nest and Plunge, maybe a new flat ride will come as well.

On to everyone's favorite part, the photos from the Spring!

A new season dawns on the park!

The new theater is ready for its first guests

    The furnished interior.

This new pathway was built on the old track layout of Double Take, it eliminates an old dead end in the park

  5. Big bump and mini-update!

I've recently completed my fall semester at college and had some free time, so I dove back into my old park. I'll try to keep this updated as much as possible and want to get this back on track! I'm skipping the fall update for year 6 and just highlighting some major developments for Season 7!

    Park News:

With Warner ready to take on its first season of operations, we saw them make their first big impression on the park with the sale and removal of Double Take from the park. The ride had been plagued with operational problems since its first season and the decision was made to sell it and remove it to make way for further expansion.

Warner has announced that it is planning for some exciting new additions to the park next season. They have unveiled concept art for a new theater to be built in the park next season, but its exact location in the park is a mystery. This has been the only confirmed addition, but Warner says there is more to come! People are speculating that the park will finally add a new water ride for the hot summer months while others are thinking that a new, unique coaster is coming to the park! Stay tuned for more details!

Here is a photo from Double Take's disassembly in Fall of Season 6:

And here is some sketches of the new theater:

Enjoy and glad to be back!

  6. Hey everyone!

I hate to say this, but due to a lack of time, creativity, and interest, I will not be continuing on with Illum Hills. Lately I have been really busy with other activities and haven't been able to really update the park. That being said, in order for it to continue, I'd have to put it on hiatus and probably forget about it. I loved doing this park and I thank everyone who followed it, but I want to move on to a new RCT3 project that isn't bound to a set storyline sometime this year. So keep a lookout for when I make it and I'll announce who is going to be carrying on Illum Hills. After that, I'll contemplate releasing a download of the park up to this point.

    Thanks for everything!

  7. Thanks for all of your supportive comments!

    *Closed Until Further Notice

    Park News

Even more bad luck befell Mr. Illum after the haunted house fell to fire at the start of the summer. Only two weeks after he suffered a heart attack and is still hospitalized. Costly medical bills started piling up and Mr. Illum was forced to sell his interest in the park to Warner Entertainment in order to pay them off. The actual figure was not disclosed, but Warner wishes him a speedy recovery and he is always welcome at the park and to give his input on the future direction of the park.

Warner has already hinted at a big expansion of the park for the next season, but many people are speculating that it won't be a coaster since they just got Black Hole. Considering that the park lost its Haunted House, could a new one be in the works? The old area has been shut off from the public leaving a lot of open land for the future. Double Take has remained closed and staff say its may never reopen, but with the loss of the Haunted House, they may try to save it to compensate for the loss.

Here is the photo update from the Summer!

Warner's influence is already being seen in the park

  8. Oh No! Damn Warner Entertainment.............

I bet it was all their fault!

    Not exactly.

Illum is at fault for putting up a temporary structure and then making it permanent with no fire control

Westworth, VA is also responsible for allowing such a structure to go wtihout regulation

VA is at fault for lax fire standards

Warner is at fault for not upgrading the facility. They will make something better though

  9. Thanks everyone!

    BREAKING NEWS

    FIRE AT LOCAL AMUSEMENT PARK

    Westworth, VA

Tragedy struck Illum Hills yesterday evening as a raging fire at their Haunted House destroyed the structure. The attraction was closed to the public as the park was adding new props and scenes to the building. Mr. Illum spoke to the press saying "This is a very unfortunate accident but we are very thankful that . The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time and we will update you as soon as we learn more."

An employee at the park, whose name will be kept private, informed the press that the fire may have been caused by a faulty electrical wire since the attraction was not originally a permanent structure within the park. At this time, Warner Entertainment, who owns a share of the park, could not be reached for comment.

  10. Back from the dead! I've been settling back in at school and I finally found some time to update. Enjoy! Thanks for the comments!

    NEW FOR YEAR 6:

    Black Hole

    Jolly Roger

    Park News

Black Hole is the park's largest addition to date! The steel giant with its graceful curves and innovative Stand-Up position have brought the park into the modern amusment age. Many people are intrigued at the concept of standing on a roller coaster, and others are just plain terrified. "We've taken what a roller coaster can do to the next level." said Lee Yardston, the Park's General Manager.

Also new this year is a swinging pirate ship named the Jolly Roger. It was placed right by the park entrance and the carousel was moved to Double Take's viewing area. Double Take was unable to open with the park and remains closed due to extensive problems with the launching system and trains. Arrow has been working to fix them, but Mr. Illum's patience is growing thin with the ride.

Warner has been talking with Six Flags, maybe the park could be up for sale soon? Or will Warner try to buy an interest in the company? Only time will tell!

  11. Glad you had a great time at Great Adventure! Thankfully Toro got back up and running for Rise and Scream after some huge storms blew through. That guy who plays Captain Cold is really into his character, every time I take one of my VIP tours through the Boardwalk, he's always talking about the Legion of Doom or asking people if they've seen The Flash. I wish you could've stayed to see the Glow in the Park Parade, it is very well done in my opinion, I try and suggest it to everyone that I see.

Every tour I've done that's a family loves both The Dark Knight and Glow in the Park. I know a lot of people complain about The Dark Knight as not being an awesome roller coaster, but when I take these families on the ride, they love that everyone can ride it and the kids love it. I hate when people say that its a failure because its not. The whole point of the ride was to make something the whole family can enjoy, and I think they hit that target pretty well.

  12. Thanks everyone, announcment time!

Hey everyone, time for an announcement!

Prepare to Stand Up to the Black Hole at Illum Hills Next Season!August 5th, Year 5

Illum Hills announced their new attraction for Year 6, a unique roller coaster named the Black hole in which riders take a loop and turns at high speeds, all while standing up! That's right, riders will climb up the 96 foot tall lift hill and race through the heart-pounding course while they stand upright. It's one of the first of its kind by the ride manufacturer known as INTAMIN. "It's quite extraordinary to think about and see the concept of the ride. So many people are used to riding roller coasters while sitting down, we're taking the thrill to a new level with this addition to the park" commented Lee Yardston, the park's General Manager. Mr. Illum could not be reached for comment as he is out of town meeting with Warner executives about the future of Warner Parks. Black Hole has already started construction and will be thrilling riders next season as they come to visit one of the best parks around!
