  1. Westcoaster Updates - 03/25/2006 - Florida - Magic Kingdom and Sea World Orlando

    Hey Ya'll,

So we're just now getting around to doing our Florida trip updates (about time since we got back 2 weeks ago). They were delayed by the flu... ugh! Welcome back to California... have a little flu. So here we go... Magic Kingdom normal stuff and some photos from our trip on the "Magic Behind Our Steam Trains" tour. And some construction photos from Sea World Orlando. Enjoy!

  2. Yeah, after the crap that Robb went through with them I should've realized it was only a matter of time until they screwed me up too. So there ya have it... but yeah, I've already started some of the process of getting things set up over there. It'll be a while until everything is running properly... but I'll try to get at least a shell of the site up and running sooner rather than later.

  3. Well, my long-standing distaste with my current host and an on-going dispute over a few different issues. Well, they played dirty. So Westcoaster had to go through the headache of being suspended from our host (really, it was childish given the issues in dispute). But alas, it was something that I should've done long before... I got a new host. So now on a faster, better host with more features than lypha offered... all good things! So I'll be moving the site over... not without a few small issues. It'll take me a few days to get the boards back up... and sadly, I had no recent dump of the MySQL databases for the updates. Needless to say, that'll be the biggest headache. So only the most recent updates will be re-appearing.

Thanks for your understanding. No worries... Westcoaster will be back soon!

  4. You got to see a Veyron in person, I'm jealous! I hope there is one at the Toronto Autoshow this year

Dan was the one that braved the thugs and auto-geeks this year to shoot that update. So I personally didn't see it... either way... I have to admit that I might be in the minority here when it comes to cars and say that "it's just an over-priced Volkswagen"... yes, it's pretty... yes, it's fast... but it's just a car to me. Maybe I'm in the minority on that kinda stuff, but I didn't see the appeal. Either way, it seems everyone and their grey-haired granny love it.

Also, for the Knott's tornado. Yes, it will be longer than SFMM's ride. As I understand it, it's basically a clone of the slide that was installed down at Soak City Chula Vista last year. That one features a helix and such before the drop into the funnel. Definitely longer than the SFMM slide.

    Thanks for readin' ya'll...

  5. Great pics, I really thought Monster's Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue was a cool and interesting ride.

    ---Brent 8)

Yeah, I really enjoyed it too. The ride's actually really good for a dark ride. I think the big thing is that you can't really go into it thinking it's a "Indy" or anything of that sort. It's not an E-ticket, it's not intended to be an E-ticket... it's a C-ticket dark ride like Alice in Wonderland or Mr. Toads Wild Ride. And on that level I think it stands up just fine. Glad you liked the ride.

And to everyone else, thanks for the kind words. Sometimes it's hard to balance time between work and website. Unfortunately the last few months have been very busy work wise, leaving very little time for website fun. Either way, looks like we're good for the time being, so updates should be a bit more regular.

  6. I'll go ahead and post here...

So last week while I was in Vegas I got my first listen to the new song "Hung Up". Not bad, not at all great. But my girlfriend hinted that she wanted the album. So I went on iTunes when I got home and pre-ordered it. So last night I finally had the time and got the album and decided to see what all the hype was about.

    I DON'T GET IT!!!!!!

This is the most over-hyped piece of crap I've ever heard in my life. Now, I'm not a huge Madonna fan... but I do have albums like Erotica and True Blue. Those were good albums. But the whole "Oh my god, Madonna's reinvented herself... blah blah blah"... it's all crap. The music is mediocre at best... and Madonna herself? She looks SCARY! Seriously... what the hell happened there. Sure she has an amazing body for her age... but her face... so scary.

So yeah... I don't get the whole "Amazing album" type of talk. It's really not THAT good. But that's just me.

  7. Okay... let's set a few things strait...

    -Yes, trims have been installed.

-No, they have nothing to do with computer issues. They are magnetic and are not connected to any power source. They appear to be entirely there to trim speed and do not function as block brakes in any way.

The trimming is definitely there. The loop is still good, but now lacks that extra "kick you in the ass" edge it used to have. And the second set of trims located on the last brake run just before the bunny hills also give you the same "did we just slow down" feeling as the first ones. They're semi-easy to spot. The brakes are preceeded by blue guide fins to guide the copper fins on the bottom of the cars into the brakes.

It doesn't kill the ride entirely, and having not ridden in the front seat, it's hard to tell how bad it kills the air on the ride (given that's the best seat on the ride for airtime). But if it's anything like the back seat... it's definitely lost that forceful airtime over the bunny hills.

  8. Dude... this sucks!!! I pop over here to see happiness and fun... and I find out the coolest rodent ever passed away!! I'm really sorry guys, I know how much ya'll loved him and how much he appreciated you too... you saved him and gave him a great little life. I'm sure he died a happy rodent!

I'm bummed that I'll never see him running around in his little car anymore!!! R.I.P. little dude!

  9. I think the issue that I have with Opus One is shared by Luke over on my boards. They dilute their own brand by releasing new vintages every year. To me that's not a wine that deserves the prices they charge, I'll agree there. However... in certain years... it is absolutely worth the price. So I'm very picky when it comes to Opus... the vintage had in Vegas was 1997 and it was BRILLIANT! (As were most Napa reds that year.)

Anyhoo... since we're sharing photos... here's a few of mine...
