  1. This is awesome that Mr. Six is back. I could not stand the commercials(at least up here in n. cal but I am sure they where basically the same with the loud guy. Cant wait to get a pic with him.
  2. Boy Saturday and Sunday could not have been more different. We had talked my Brother-in-law and his family to make the 4 hour drive with us this time and Saturday was the most miserable day I have ever had in a Theme Park( Yes the smart part of me knew it would be that way, last Saturday before Halloween along with beautiful weather but the kid in me wanted to go anyway!). The best part is this was our first Fright Fest at SFMM as we normally just go to SFDK for Fright Fest. The only character in movies that has ever gave my wife nightmares is that clown. I just have to say it was fun. Also riding Colossus backwards was pretty darn cool. Sunday was awesome, I love Sunday mornings. I got to ride the knew version of X for the first time because I had a few surgeries this summer and before I thought the change was just a marketing scheme but I have to say I loved the changes. We got to the line at 10:45 and waited about an hour so not bad at all. The sound and the fire were really good new effects, awesome. 10 minute wait for Tatsu at 1pm, you can not beat that. My proudest moment as a father was my 10 year old daughter out riding her 27 year old uncle and getting my 1 1/2 year old nephew riding and liking Goliath Jr.(I refuse to call it anything else). Then I finally ran into Jahan at the park which was really neat after looking at this site all the time for years. Whats next running in to Rob Avery or Jay Thomas? I am so glad I was able to talk my wife into a few of us going back Sunday.
  3. quick question, We have never came down for fright fest must less on a Saturday. What is the crowd like, is it like SFDK where it is light earlier then fills up in the afternoon? We will be there open to close what is the best time for Tatsu and X2? I am almost thinking even though it will be a fight( with my wife..lol) to return Sunday morning for a couple of hours before we head back because it seems like the first few hours of Sunday are always light.
  4. I have not been on for a while but after reading the last 10 pages here are some thoughts: I live up here close to SFDK. The year they opened Thomas Town it was on all of the local advertising like the Tony Hawk Ride is this year. BTW I was happy with Tony Hawk after all. It is really small in size but being able to have my 5 and 10 year old and my wife and me all on the same ride was cool. Instead of taking still pictures they have cameras in the middle of the cars and they try to sell you a DVD for $20. I bet the camaras do not last 2 years. I think having a mix is important between thrill and kiddie rides but it is Magic Mountains Thrill Rides that get me to load up the car what used to be 6 times a year before this gas thing and come down for a couple of days. The kids areas are very important but lets face it almost all of the kids rides are the same in every park. I may come down with the family but I come for the coasters. Another thing that drives us to go 400 miles each way is the amount of coasters that my whole family can ride on, for instance Ninja is 42'. I love the reveloution paint job. I will always love revolution not only because of the vacation movie that I love but it was the first coaster I could fit on at Magic Mountain and my daughters first upside down coaster. It was big because when I first started coming down I was 350 pounds and Rev and Goliath was it. I had weight loss surgery just so I could fit on all of the coasters( OK and to live too..lol) and am proud to say I have lost 150 pounds and have rode every coaster in the park. I was scared for a while that Reveloution was on its way out. Six Flags has always gotten my dollar because of the huge range from kids stuff to thrills. Take care all, hope you are doing well.
  5. I agree I was just saying my personal feelings. The reason why we drive five hours each way is because magic mountain's rides are on a complete different level than anything up here. From a business stand point it only makes sense to have clones. They can buy 5 Tony Hawk Rides cheaper than Buying just 1 different ride for each park. Besides the number of people that are crazy like my family to make 6 trips a year just to go to a theme park are not very many. Have a great day.
  6. I would not worry about Thomas Town. I know up here at SFDK it looked the same as your pics for months and then the above ground stuff went up in a couple of weeks. As far as what kind of coaster is coming I know they have the Tony Hawk Family coaster at other parks and they are putting one in here, They seem to get on kicks of putting the same stuff in. Personally I hope it is not because we go to both parks and I hope it is something new. As far as all the complaining I did about the dollar lockers after visiting SFDK over spring break I actually like them. The employees were not enforcing them but a lot of times I get paranoid about the buttons on my shorts opening and losing my wallet or phone, yes I know its stupid. It was worth the buck to not have to think about it.
  7. I loved Oakwood Lake Resort. I remember when I was 18 jumping off the bungee tower. Cal Expo's slides have just not been the same to me.
  8. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is just an hour from us and so is California's Great America but we go to Magic Mountain which is 5 hours away at least six couple day trips a year. If you have been to both parks you know that it is obvious that SFMM is the place to go.
  9. Sorry guys if I got my panties in a wad. We are all here for the same reason, we love our park and the coasters. Have a great evening.
  10. All I said was that when you have a family it is not as easy to not end up with stuff. When just my 10 yr old and I go we normally don't have extra items. All my point was it is a little rediculas if my daughter has her drink cup to have to pay a buck every time we are at a ride and that I think on busy days the lockers will end up all full. The more I have thought about it I am not that upset with it I just am tired of getting nickeled to death. Our favorite thing in the world is to make the 5 hour drive down there about 6 times a year. What is really sad is that I used to respect all of you. I read the posts every day. The way all of you start saying that I should leave my brats at home? That I should stay in Thomas Town? My five year old is 45 inches and there are a lot of big rides that we like to ride as a family such as Ninja. Robb is right that the whole argument is silly. Maybe my "brats" as you guys called them and I should just not read this site anymore.
  11. If you are just a couple guys are girls it is fine to say don't bring big items to the park. When you have a 5 and 10 year old no matter how hard you try you will acquire items and those items six flags has probably already been well paid for. Also this is the problem I see. From looking at the pics from the SFDK lockers at Medusa the lockers are out front. There are signs saying 120 minute max. I see people using the $1 lockers and going on multiple rides around the area. What hapends when all of the locker are full. Does that mean my family of 4 can not ride the ride because my son has 12 inch bugs bunny. The idea of not riding all together is not good because we have been waiting for years for are youngest to be tall enough so that all 4 of us can ride quite a few rides. They say they will have employees watching the lockers so that stuff is not left too long but we all know what happens with that. That will be the first position to pull to cover other positions are to cut labor. Everyone has always known that if you leave your stuff at the station it is at your own risk.
  12. ^ Sorry said Sierra Twister twice and ride Thomas Town not watch it..lol.
  13. I can not believe they took out circus wheels that was our families favorite ride. They say they are being more family friendly but my six year old and ten year old loved circus wheel, sierra twister, sierra falls, sierra twister, and granny grand prix. Like I have said before the Thomas Town at SFDK was so lame my kids did not even want to watch it and that is what we get in return. Being honest I make the five hour drive six or seven times a year because the coasters at sfmm our so much better than anything in Northern Cal but if they keep this up the family is not going to want to go as much which is the opposite of what they say they are trying to accomplish.
  14. I am all for a family friendly park as I have a 5 and a 10 year old. However, replacing great rides with more kids rides is not the best answer. We live in northern California and make the trip about 6 times a year. For the most part kids rides are mostly the same and kids are happy with just about everything. For instance the kids rides are the same at sfdk and sfmm. When Sfdk put in Thomas Town the rdes they put in were identical with different pain to rides they already had in another area. People do not drive 6 hours for the kiddie rides. We drive 6 hours because the rollercoasters at sfmm make any coaster in northern cal look like a kiddie ride itself. On another note they could save a lot of money for just paying attention to what their employees are doing. For example, Sunday at around 5pm we stopped at the place that has the Turkey Legs by the rapids ride. It was a ghost town around there but they had 8 employees on duty just gossiping. We did not ask for extra ketchup but they just handed us 37 ketchups for a kids fry. Multiply that times millions of guests. I just hope they dont shoot themselves more in the foot.
  15. scrambler is still there, we rode it 3 times yesterday.
  16. I sure hope that they replace circus wheels with something family friendly. Like I have said before there is already a lack of stuff for the younger kids to do when making "the lap" once you get past the gothom city area. Circus wheels is not just one of my 5 year olds favorite rides but my 10 year old and wifes favorites. On another note I was there yesterday and it was one of the best days for lines I have ever seen. At opening I walked right on X and Tatsu but even in the middle of the day I practically walked on Goliath, Batman, Riddler, and Scream. It was a great day.
  17. I am for them adding to anything. It is good to see the thousands of dollars I have spent over the years at sfdk and sfmm going into stuff. I finally got to ride x this summer for the first time and loved it. I have always loved roller coasters but was 345 since high school so have only been able to fit on Goliath and revolution. Last March I had lap band surgery with the main reason so that I could ride all of the coasters with my daughter. Well I am happy to say I am down to 215 and looking forward to getting my Tatsu credit this weekend to finish out riding all the rides in the park. you think your crazy about riding coasters I had surgery to be able to fit on them..lol. Seriously as far as Thomas Town I have said I was disappointed by the one they put in up here at sfdk but I would like to see it put in the back of the park. THe one at sfdk could easily fit in the Phyclone area without removing Deja Vu. The reason I would like to see it in the back of the park is simple. Having a 10 and a 5 year old once you get past the scrambler area there is really nothing for the little ones to ride during the "lap" until you get all the way back to the front of the park. It would be nice to have something back there to keep both kids happy!
  18. I think THomas town was a waste for sfdk. All of the hype and when it was built it was a very small track in a circle, at least the old train served a purpose. Also they added just a couple little rides which are identical to rides already running in looney toon village a few hundred yards away. My 4 year old who loves watching Thomas was not even interested by it.
  19. We go to both SFDK and SFMM. Up Here by Six Flags Discovery Kingdom there was so much talk about the Thomas Town. When it opened this year it was very disappointing. It was just one Thomas train that goes in a short circle around the one building( the shark experience if you have ever been). Besides that they just added two small rides that are identicle to other rides in looney tunes village a few hundred yards away. My 4 year old that loves thomas thought it was dumb. Hopefully SFMM will get a better one because we make the 5 hour drive to SFMM as much as we go to Vallejo but I will not get excited till I see it.
  20. I agree about the parking lot being resurfaced that was soo needed. When we were there in December in the handicap lot it was so bad that you could see two different sets of lines. I parked in what looked like a spot. It was early so it was right by the guy that stops foot traffic for the trams on the corner. He sat and watched us all get out of the car and then told me I had to move the car when he was within shouting distance the whole time. Next I do not know what the answer is but there is an issue with the trams. If the parking lot has been open long enough to move acouple of stops down every single tram that stops by the handicap spots is already full. This is not that big of a deal for me because I am addicted to theme parks and I know I am going to be in serious pain from walking anyways so the distance from the lot to the front gate is not much more. I feel for the people that are in worse shape maybe planning on renting a wheelchair in the park and can not get on a tram for the life of them. Thank god I just had lap band surgery and am already feeling next to no pain( And yes my main reason for having the surgery is to be able to fit on more than just Goliath, Revolution, and Viper!). Sorry I went long but it feels good to get the parking lot thoughts off my chest...lol.
  21. I have never been there. Is it as fun for a 4 and a 9 year old as the web site makes it out?
  22. I think it is awesome that our home park is getting the Thomas area. My 4 year old is very excited. I am suprised that SFDK is putting in another kids area just one year after they added a 2nd kids area Tava's Jungle but more the marrier. It would be great is SFMM where to put one in the Phyclone site. We go there 6 to 7 times a year and when we make the rounds once you get past the scrambler their is not a lot for my 4 year old to do while my 9 year old rides the big rides and it is a long way from their over the hill back to bugs bunny land.
  23. I keep reading about all the violence. For the last four years I have made the five hour drive 6 to 7 times a year with my wife and a 9 and 4 year old. We have never had an issue and prefer making the drive than to go as much to our home park SFDK. I guess we have just had real good luck.
  24. I drive from northern California about 5 times a year for two day trips to Magic Mountain because our local park Six Flags Discovery Kingdom aka Marine World just does not cut it. We were there in December and again a few weeks ago and the difference from last summer is night and day. I plan on taking the family even more now because I just had weight loss surgery so I can fit on more coasters. Someone made the comment a while back that they have nothing new and what their slogan for the year should be. How about: Six Flags Magic Mountain "We give a crap now, while at least for a while!" I hope it lasts.
