  1. Some of the more memorable tunnels I've experienced (in no particular orded): Dragon Mountain @ Marineland - The pitch black downhill descent into the butterfly inversion. Awesome! Hades @ Mt. Olympus - Obviously. The Beast @ Kings Island - All of the ride's tunnels are pretty cool, but the last one stands out as the best, even though it's a bit rough. Magnum @ Cedar Point - The tunnels add a great effect to the ride, especially the misty last one. Others I like include: Legend & Raven @ HW; Minebuster @ PCW; and the Demon @ SFGAm.
  2. I think you've missed the point. Cedar Point is unique because it's surrounded by water and located on a peninsula. If you don't think that's unique, I'd like to see you name another park that has those features. Also, appearance and ride collections shouldn't matter because we're simply focusing on the park's interesting location.
  3. ^ If you go back and reread some of the replies in this thread, you'll find out that it was posted by a TPR member after I brought up the subject.
  4. Interesting. While I know my choices wouldn't please everyone, I did put an "Other" option. I'm not sure why it isn't showing.
  5. Has anyone heard or even been to this place? I recently stumbled across a listing at Wikipedia that mentioned it being a small Chinese amusement park. Here's something that caught my attention: "For 2006 LimmyLand will open Dekamaishani, a 222 foot tall and B&M hypercoaster. This will be B&M's first roller coaster in China. It will also be the tallest roller coaster in China." I searched RCDB and Yahoo, and came up with nothing. Anyone have any information on LimmyLand? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LimmyLand
  6. In your opinion, which park has the best setting/location? You can base your judgement on uniqueness (ie. Cedar Point) or even which park best utilizes its surroundings (ie. Kennywood). Please share your thoughts and photos.
  7. Will the splashdown occur in the lake, using lake water? The whole project seems to be very well done, I especially like the logo, very creative.
  8. Straight from the Cedar Point site: 1. Tallest roller coaster (310 feet) 2. Fastest roller coaster (93 mph) 3. Longest drop on a roller coaster (300 feet) 4. Most roller coasters at one park (14) 5. Most rides at one park (sixty-eight) 6. First roller coaster to top 300 feet 7. Most steel roller coasters at one park (12) 8. Most roller coaster track at one park (44, 013 feet) 9. First coaster to utilize elevator lift system 10. Steepest non-inversion banked turn on a roller coaster (122 degrees) http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/millennium/mffacts.cfm
  9. Name one ride Cedar Fair removed and didn't replace. You can't, because they never did that! They even relocated three rides that interfiered with the construction of the new waterpark. Not to mention, they did a rehab and repainted the Yo-Yo. TT does indeed have nine programs, the last one being non-stop (literally). Honestly, if you're that lazy to actually do some walking, stay home. As for Ohio not having a market for water parks, just how many water parks have you been to in the state? Dover Lake and Pioneer Waterland, both of which can be calld competition to GL, are extremely popular. They even add new attractions every year or two. Pricewise, you can't beat GL's $25 admission. Now how would a troubled and struggling park pose a threat to the so-called best park in the world? What makes you think Six Flags would've handled things in a more efficient matter? You honestly believe they invested millions of dollars into the park for nothing? Get real. Soak City added a water play area for kids not too long ago. Get it through your head, they're turning the place into a family kind of place. Families are likely to spend more money than one thrill seeking teenager. A water park is more interesting and has more meaning to a family than a really tall roller coaster that their kids aren't even tall enough to ride. Get the picture? It's all about the family.
  10. Then again, five coasters were added to the park in two years, look what happened after that. People expect too much. Cedar Fair is making the place more family oriented and friendly. If you ask me, I don't think we'll see a major coaster (massive looper or hyper) for a long time, if ever. If they're trying to squeeze everything out of the park, they wouldn't be making major improvements to the place (ie. waterpark). They do care about the park; the general public doesn't care, hence the short waits and emptiness. If you want the place to succeed, come and spend money. I don't know how else to put it.
  11. ...And the Rotor, Flying Skooters, Muzik Express, etc. etc., all while Six Flags was in charge. I wonder how many more would've been taken out if they still ran the place.
  12. I've heard many say that Euclid Beach was a wasteland, hell, it still looks like one today. The place managed to survive because former Cedar Point employees took over and turned it into bait for Premier. The top spin was introduced in '93, Premier came into the picture in '95. LOL! How sweet. Unless you have some handicap that makes it difficult for you to walk, don't complain. Honestly, people complain about the most simplest things, but walking? I can't believe how lazy some can get, when there are people out there paralized for life. Grow up. If you must know the reason, it's to count how many people go through the turnstyle. While being a pass holder through many years, including all of which the park was under SFWoA, I have never, ever, seen many people on the wild life side (it got better once they brought Shouka in). Smart move to get rid of something that was somewhat popular and put in something that actually will bring people to that side of the park? I think so. Texas Twister can be ran on two different programs. If you're familiar with the Huss top spin, they are 4 and 5. Reason behind this is "insurance". To be fair, there are more people watching the ride than riding, I think that alone can sum up why it's been toned down. Where do you see the dismantling of Mr. Hyde's? Last time I drove by, it was still there. It's also listed on the website, which has also been updated numerously over the past few weeks. According to Screamscape? I can't believe how many of you consider Screamscape and RCDB to be 100% positive. Unless it comes from the park, don't put full faith into it. Simple as that.
  13. Bit off topic, but Valleyfair's version of the ride has begun testing. Check out the photos... http://www.valleyfair.com/news/the_scoop/construction_gallery.cfm I'm surprised at how fast they put this thing up. Guess all that's left is landscaping and queue, if that already isn't done.
  14. Could the bad capacity be blamed on enthusiast credit whores? Think about it, the ride is meant for children, and occasionaly their parents. Maybe if all the adults who have no business riding, the little kids wouldn't have to wait so long and the capacity wouldn't be a problem. A question for those who actually ride these kind of rides(without a child), doesn't it emberass you? Why are these credits so important? After riding a certain amount of coasters, do you get a prize? Is money involved? If so, where do I sign up?
  15. "It's nothing personal, it's just business." I, for one, am glad the park is thinking to the future and not wasting time in the past. Rides, buildings, slides, etc. can't possibly withstand time, and can't be around forever. Replacement is necessary, Cedar Fair clearly outlines the lifeline of its property and equipment in its annual report, and this specific building is way overdue.
  16. You can thank Cedar Fair's insurance provider for that. The one at GL is only allowed to run in two different modes.
  17. Although I'm happy with the oustings, I have to wonder, where will these big shot amusement park players go once booted from Six Flags. Lets see, Kinzel leaves in 2007.....woah, scary thought! I doubt most of them will retire though. BTW, which coaster is that in the background?
  18. Phase 2 is going on the site of that old racing track, and it will include a Home Depot. The park won't go under. The place has been around for a century, despite constant change in management and all of the turmoil that came along with it. Cedar Fair is heading the park in the right direction by bringing it up to their standards, but it will take time, and people need to be patient. On a different note, im surprised Wyandot Lake is still in the SF chain. Being located next to a successful zoo, I would imagine they'd be willing to pick the place up (they already have WL's carousel).
  19. ^The area is developing drastically. Within the past few years, they've created the Signature of Solon, an upscale housing development with a private golf course, the shopping centers, of course, and they're also expanding Aurora Rd. Another massive project is being developed on Aurora Rd. and Pettibone; no idea on what it could be though.
  20. ^No, the outlet mall is South of the park. This shopping center is right across from Geauga Lake. The second phase will be right across from Geauga Lake Road, North of the main gate. Bottom line, the park needs a full-service, sit down restaurant. Better food variety/selection would also be nice.
  21. It's not a mall, it's a huge outdoor shopping center. There's no TGI Friday's, and no Carrabra's. There is indeed a Ruby Tuesday's, and Bob Evans, along with a few fast food establishments, such as Mcdonald's, Subway, and KFC. They are building "Phase 2" as we speak, which will include a Target andHome Depot. I can only imagine what restaurants will open on that site. There isn't a TGI Friday's anywhere near the park, there is an Applebee's though.
