viking86
Okay, so the weekend after opening day I travelled across the mountains to Tusenfryd, Norway's only amusement park with adult rides, to check out their new Intamin rocket coaster called Speedmonster. I met up with Andy & Greg, some friends of me from England. You may have seen them before in Robb's Blackpool Pleasure Beach updates. I was very excited to ride it as the only launched coaster I had ridden before was Kanonen at Liseberg, and this looked so much better. I was not dissappointed.... I dont want to write a long boring text so I'll just bring on the pictures: PART 1 And a S&S Spaceshot which is one of the few good ones I have ridden. There is also a great view from the top as its located at the highest point in the park. Part 2 is coming up.... Tusenfryd also have one of these Zamperla Dragon coasters. It didnt last long though. The same cant be said about Thundercoaster which were closed for 1 1/2 hours after getting stuck at the top with passengers onboard (in the rain!) Yes, that is a Vekoma ride stuck on the lifthill. Backseat riders: Weeeeeeeee! Frontseat riders: OWWW F***ING H**L SH*T OUCH!!!!! Andy standing in front of his favorite ride at Tusenfryd! Greg didnt want to ride, and I passed aswell since I already knew how crappy that ride is. I was surprised the fountains were on, but they didnt make the passengers very wet. Can you guess who Andy is??? Andy then decided that he wanted to try the Mondial Roll-Over. Me and Andy even stayed in the boat for three or four rides without leaving. (check out the very wrong blue track in the background) I dont know if they raised the track or lowered the water, but atleast we didnt get very wet on it. As you can see it was really busy! (they were actually running 2 boats on it) Im always surprised by how good that drop is! Its cold, its raining, theres still some snow left on the ground and were off to ride Supersplash Andy was the only one who didnt have the credit, but he didnt want to ride alone so I rode it with him. As you can see we are very excited ..IS a credit! (check out all the wheels that brings this coaster to its highest point) No Andy, thats not a credit! This one however... This hill in the backseat in the rain has the most extreme ejector airtime I have ever felt on a wooden coaster. With a few inches of space and some slack on my seatbelt I went like a rocket into my lapbar. If it only was running like this all the time. I ...it was FLYING!!! Seriously, it felt like it was going WAY too fast!! It was just amazing! Rough as hell, but amazing!! I havent had rides that good since my first rides on it in 2002! We then headed off to Thundercoaster. Our first ride wasnt very impressive, with the airtime not being very strong, but when it started raining.... Weeee corkscrew!!!! Klank, klank, klank, klank,..... The Arrow train had shiny new wheels, but the ride didnt feel any different. Not too smooth, but not too rough either. Loopen, the parks star-attraction for many years until Thundercoaster opened in 2001. And if you were wondering..... YES that is some snow left on the ground!!! So we got our first ride on Speedmonster and it was awesome. I will post more pictures of it. But lets check out the rest of the park first... The awesome train hitting the VERY short brakerun! We arrived at the park about an hour after opening so we were delighted to see that the queue wasnt any longer than this. Heres Speedmonster, the reason we came to Tusenfryd, flying above the escalator between the park entrance and the rest of the park.
viking86
PART 2 The entrance to Tusenfryd looks REALLY great now! At this point it felt great to know that I was going to go back there the next day! I hope you have enjoyed the pictures. It was very hard to get good pictures as it was quite dark both days! One of the last trains of the day. Awesome twisting Intamin-thing!!! WRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!! The launch wasnt as intense as I hoped for, but it was still very fun! Check out the massive queue later in the day! The corkscrew is one of my favorite parts on this ride. Its just so perfect! These hills were awesome! Almost a tad rough in the backseat, but not painfull at all. *Insert Intamin screeching sound here* Heres the only part of the ride that I was expecting to the better. How awesome is that?? The pretzel loop was really cool! Floater airtime/hangtime at the top and really strong G-forces at the bottom! And up they go... Greg & Andy getting launched. C'mon guys, you are on an Intamin ride! SMILE!!! Heres Greg & Andy standing in front of the awesome Speedmonster!

viking86
I forgot to mention it, but the pictures should show it pretty well. The park was TOTALLY dead saturday. A bit more people sunday, but still very quiet. They were running two trains on Speedmonster, Thundercoaster and Supersplash, and Speedmonster was the only ride in the park which wasnt walk-on. It may have been wet and cold, but I dont think I have ever had so much fun at Tusenfryd before! I also cant belive how amazing Thundercoaster is when its raining. When its dry its 'just alright', but once the track gets wet it becomes a completely different coaster. The difference in speed and forces is huge! Thundercoaster is now back as my number one wooden coaster above Balder, but only when its wet!

CoasterCrazy
Thanks for posting the pictures! Reading all of these Photo TRs from parks that are on the UK Tour doesn't help the 28 days go by any faster!
