Advice requested for May Schlitterbahn NB park visit

Hey all, thanks so much for all the great info that I have read here in the past while lurking. Now I'm finally registered and asking for advice.

I am a new Austin, TX (actually Round Rock) resident. The last day of school is tomorrow (Wed., May 24). I have two boys, ages 14 and 10 that I want to take to a water park on Thursday. Austin and other surrounding schools' last day isn't until Thursday. I was hoping that this might mean that Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels wouldn't be too crazy crowded. Except, that I just found out that only the Surfenburg and Blastenhoff sections of Schlitterbahn East will be open. This would be our first visit trip to the Bahn, so I have no real idea what to expect, other than to arrive early and hit Master Blaster first.

I guess my question is this, should we go ahead and visit Schlitterbahn on Thursday or would we be better off waiting for another weekday where the entire park is open?

Also, I've heard varying reports on how crowded certain parks get on Memorial Day. Logic would dictate (at least to me) that this would be a very crowded day, but I've read in a few places where it isn't usually that bad. Does anyone have any experience at Schlitterbahn (NB), Fiesta Texas, or Sea World (SA) on Memorial Day?

Thanks in advance!

Actually we did all of the Texas parks over Memorial Day a couple of years ago.

Not bad at all!

We did Schlitterbahn Saturday evening and Sunday Morning of Memorial Day weekend and it was very manageable. Like you said, you have to do Master Blaster first as it gets insane lines!

As for the 'to go now, or wait' question. It's really up to you and what you're into. You'll be missing the 'old school' area of the park. Natural river water (colder), older slides, but some stuff you don't see very often anymore. The two new sections that will be open have about as much stuff as an average sized waterpark. (Family Raft ride, two tube slides, master blaster, weird wave/lazy river, surfing attraction, lazy river, kids play area, family blaster, dragon blaster)

Let me know if I can help with anything else!
