live2tell75 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 On my way back from my trip to Magic Mountain, I had a 3 hour lay-over in Minneapolis, so thanks to the advice of Joe (Parktrips) I took the light rail from the airport and was at the Mall of America in 10 minutes! I was only there for an hour and a half but I got the 2 credits in and the Ghost Blasters dark ride in. I really loved the Ripsaw Roller Coaster. The Timber Twister was fun too, a little rough. I wanted to do the flume but wasn't sure how wet you get, so I decided not to do it. Someday I will have to come back and spend more time! --Eric J.
ECZenith Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 We have a version of Timberline Twister at SFNE and it really doesn't spin as much as it should... Did MOA's coaster at least spin a lot?
live2tell75 Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 I thought it spun a lot. This was the only twister type coaster that I have been one, so I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe someone out there that has been on the MOA coaster and another twister could compare?
steel Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I can answer all of your questions. First of all, I'm glad you liked The PaMoA. I grew up with this park when it was Camp Snoopy. Second, you need to go back and ride their log chute. It is undoubtedly, unquestionabley, undeniabley, the best log chute on the face of the earth. You hardly get wet unless you're very unlucky. It has two drops, two onride photos, and some amazing theming. Third, I've been on Worlds of Fun's Spinning Dragons and The PaMoA's TimberLAND Twister (TimberLINE Twister is at Knott's Berry Farm). These two are clones. No Gerstlauer spinner will spin much if the car is balanced. For best spinnage results, try, try, and try again to get only two people in one car, both facing backwards out of the station. This is a lot easier to do at The PaMoA. So, really, they spin the same amount. It just depends on how the car is balanced. Personally, I prefer Timberland Twister. Don't know why, I just do. For future reference, Pandemonium at SFNE is a little smaller than the others.
ParkTrips Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Yea bummed you didn't get to check out the log flum but that's ok - time limits and I'm glad you enjoyed yoursrlf. I personally liked the one at NE better because the one at the mall was getting a big jerky unlike Pandemonium which was still glass smooth. Crappy Gerstlaurer engineering Oh well but otherwise the rides are pretty much identical. For best results I've found that groups of 3 do insane spinning, though 2 works well also. 4 is the worst.
steel Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Do all you can to avoid riding in fours. Unfortunately, this is the ops' preference to keep the line moving. It makes sense, but try hard. Best combination I know of is two people facing backwards to begin with, no one facing forewards. Second best would be two bigger people facing backwards, one smaller person facing forewards. Try for the second of the two. That's much more likely than the first.
