DenDen Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Hi R&E! When listing messages in a topic, would it be possible for you to add a hack that not only states the author of a thread, but the date/time posted? I've had message boards that do this, not sure if it's easy with this script or not. But why ask for this feature... This came to be a big issue for me when you started the ameteur thread. I didn't know what I've seen, and what I haven't. Sure, we have a read/unread feature on this board, but it is very difficult (as I'm sure you know) to keep track of things, especially of threads of similar discussion. And "read/unread" doesn't tell me if I've seen the original post or not. (ie., I've downloaded the same files a couple times by mistake, not sure if I got them or not.) Not knowing the original date also gets me to go into the same thread multiple times. (I can't keep track, there's just sooooo much information here!) OK, so call be blonde, Polish, and stupid. (I do all the time, it's a great excuse!) I think this feature would be a great help to me, and to others that aren't here every day. Thanks for listening! (um, reading...) Dennis
robbalvey Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Hi there Dennis, Thanks for the suggestion. Would you mind, if at all possible, seeing if you can find what you are looking for on this site: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/ That's usually where I get most of the mods for the board. If it exists there, I can add it to the forum. I just want to be sure that 1. I have a clear understanding of what you're asking, and 2. it actually exists! --Robb "And 3. my time has been really limited lately so I really appreciate the help!" Alvey ps. If you see any other interesting features there, please suggest them!
Louise Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Sorry Dennis, gonna hijack for a sec... This is like the world's smallest gripe, but if it's something that's easily changed.... If I do a search for a profile or whatever, the text is yellow on white, which is pretty tough to read... I hate to sound like a pain in the arse, but if this is an easy thing to fix, is there any chance it could be black or some other colour? If not, no worries, it's hardly something that affects the everyday working of the site.
CoasterCrazy Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I think this would be a great addition to the site, especially for the new users! http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/2324

Carnage Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 While on a similar topic. I've always found it wierd that the MSN/ICQ/AIM/etc buttons only show up for the user logged in, not other forums users. Isn't that backwards?

You mean they only show up in the user is logged into the forum?
DenDen Posted February 12, 2006 Author Posted February 12, 2006 How does it look? PERFECT! I think it will help a lot of people keep track now. Thanks a bazillion!

You mean they only show up in the user is logged into the forum? What I meant was that when I browse the forums I only see instant message icons for myself. ex: Under everyone's names all I see is Profile/Friend/PM/WWW. But under my own profile I see that plus MSN/ICQ/AIM/etc. It just seems backwards as why would I want to message myself. This is what I see when logged in.
robbalvey Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Oh, that is very strange. I wonder if there is a setting in the profile to show messenger icons. This is what I see when I log in:
Carnage Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Weird I dont' see that at all. I scoured the profile but couldn't find an option related to that. Could it be an admin setting that just happens to not apply to your admin account?
robbalvey Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I don't know. I'm really baffled by this. I'll have to look into it more when I have some time. Thanks for letting me know, though! --Robb
