So yeah .. this weekend we went to Galveston (South of Houston) for the hell of it. We stopped by Astroworld to pick some stuff up from them and get some photos of the deconstruction. Wierd now when you drive up on Astroworld now from the west and don't see Dungeon Drop anymore and the skycoaster is the tallest thing there.

Deconstruction is moving along, Serial Thriller is almost 1/2 gone and Ultra Twister is about 1/3 gone. WaterWorld is gone completely and XLR-8 has a crane in it's helix area, so that will prolly start coming down. After Astroworld, we headed to Moody Gardens in Galveston. They've got 3 pyramids with an aquarium, rainforest thingie and "Discovery" pyramid. Also they have a paddle wheel boat, IMAX and Turbo Ride theater, along with the interactive fountains, convention center and hotel. Aquarium is the best with the penguins and seals they have. Rainforest pyramid was cool with bats and lots of birds and monkeys. The Discovery pyramid was closed ... but dunno what was really in there.

The IMAX show was "Santa vs. The Snowman" .. had some pretty funny adult humor and anti-microsoft humor which was great. Did the Turbo Ride, which was SpongeBob 4D, same show as PKI, SFOT, Dollywood, etc.

After Moody, hit Kemah Boardwalk for food and then hotel to sleep. The next day we headed back to Galveston for the Lone Star Flight Museum and Schlitterbahn. The Flight Museum, Schlitterbahn and Moody Gardens are all right next to each other, so it'll be very nice in the summers. Schlitterbahn Galveston is pretty big now and is progressing nicely and the indoor part should be open in February, not December 10th like planned ... but that was due to things beyond their control (Arson, Hurricanes, etc.)

After that .. had some lunch and hit Kemah again then headed home. Even without Astroworld, Houston still has alot and Kemah will be expanding again in 2007 and Landry's is finally around the last legal hurdle with the new Landmark Hotel Pier idea, that will also include rides and a wooden coaster on the pier.

Cool stuff!!

I had fun at Moody Gardens when we went probably 5 years ago... one of their simulators was of a roller coaster too (bonus!). Thanks for the Schlitterbahn and Kemah pics too! 8)

I've done that at SW in San Diego 8)

Schlitterbahn is growing, a lot from when I went in July.

Man, I wish to move to Houston but cant live without theme parks. It kills me.
