coasterdude5 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Hello, If you have print or high-quality digital photos of the former Libertyland amusement park (in Memphis, Tennessee), I need your help! I am compiling photographs for a Libertyland book, part of the Images of Modern America book series. I need photos of anything and everything related to the park -- from its inception to its closure. Any digital photos will need to be very high quality: preferably in the .TIFF format and at least 300 dpi. If you have print photographs, you can mail them to me to scan (I will keep the photos secure and will reimburse your mailing cost). Of course, anyone who contributes a photo will receive credit in the book. Send me a PM for more information, or complete the form on the page linked below. You can find additional information about the book here: rememberlibertyland.com/book I would greatly appreciate any help -- even if it's just forwarding this on to someone you know who might have photos. ElvisLuv Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I'm tearin up. The dark days of Memphis politics, it's so much better now. City is coming back out if the shadowz. Graceland just announced a major entertainment development and it immediately popped into my mind that that is where a new version of the Zippin Pippin should have been built along with a set recreation of the carnival in Roustabout. How Memphis just basically gave away the naming rights and design rights for a song is beyond me, same administration that pissed away the Memphis Belle as well.
ElvisLuv Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 ^ So...do you have any photos? I've got old photos of the antique cars, the entry area with the hounddog mascot and Tom Sawyer's Island but their faded pretty bad and not suitable to your needs. There is a guy into old Memphis photos at MemphisTigers.org. he pretty much runs a thread on the general Memphis board,.goes by Cletus. I'd hit him up. http://csnbbs.com/thread-421895.html
ElvisLuv Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 OP needs to contact Vance Lauderdale at Memphis Magazine as well.
