Projektion
With the release of NL2, I've been working on a recreation of Furius Baco at PortAventura. With this recreation I hope to be able to completely remake the ride right down to scripting the pre-launch sequence. Right now, the trackwork is mostly done, but I am still going back and tweaking things as I find that they are off. I've got it somewhat functioning in script mode with a basic version of the pre launch sequence. I plan to do the 3ds next, then the terrain surrounding the area then lastly the supports. The current state of the Station with some minor 3ds work The current state of the bare untextured pre launch show room The launch The dive into the trench (The most inaccurate part of the recreation) Twisty Up and over the launch track The long inline roll The final turn over the (as of right now unmade) lagoon
Projektion
Small update on the recreation, here is the current version of the preshow script, I'm just trying to get a working script down for the prelaunch at the moment,I've currently got the cogs working and the (placeholder model of the) scientist/inventor being thrown through the machine. I still have the lighting, monkey and scientist being shot through the pipe on the ceiling to do. I also altered the colour the the track again to give it a touch more blue. Projektion
After a bit of researching on the net for some things to help with some recreations, I think I ended up coming across the holy grail for this project, which could open up turning this furius baco recreation into a full size PortAventura recreation. I managed to find an accurate (and somewhat quite well detailed) height map/elevation model of PA that contains all the coaster/pathways/buildings/etc. With this I've managed to get a map overlay that is almost perfectly scaled (the coaster still comes out at 25m longer than the real life on, yet the scale of the overlay is perfect). As for progress with the coaster, I am currently in the middle of the 3ds. As I go along with the 3ds, I am also updating the terrain and supports. A.J.
I can tell you from experience, visualizing an entire park - even a small, concentrated area of a park - is an incredibly time-consuming endeavor. I've spent the last two weeks doing only tiny details of my current visualization project - which is just a small area of a water park - after working on most of the basic modeling for the past two and a half months. Projektion
While I realise it may take a while, I need something to occupy myself with at the moment. My current work situation means I only work 4 hours a day during winter months. This gives me a lot of free time to do things, I thought this project might be a pretty good time sink. When summer comes I may not be able to dedicate as much time to this project, but I still plan on getting stuff done.
