arjun Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 hi. I am going to washington dc from 31st may 2013 till 7th july 2013 for two summer courses at georgetown university. I rarely get a chance to go to theme parks, as I am from India, and the parks here are the worst in the world and so I wanted to go to the theme parks in america. I know that six flags america is 40 minutes away from the university, and I will go there, but I have read the reviews and almost all the reviews say that this park is very bad. Which other theme parks are near and good. I think the nearest one other than six flags america is kings dominion. I would not be driving or renting a car. Can you suggest me which park I should go to and how do I get there and back safely. I have been to universal studios singapore, and I really enjoyed it. A park which is similar to that or better would be great. Thanks
cfc Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Busch Gardens Williamsburg would be a possibility, as there is regular train service twice a day between DC and Williamsburg (Amtrak); cab or bus service to the park is available (a cab wouldn't be too expensive). You'd be looking at an overnight stay. Ashland is the nearest Amtrak station to Kings Dominion, and I imagine you could get a cab to take you to the park (not sure about this, though). Homeboy23 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 You could also look into taking the train into the Main street station in Richmond VA and use the GRTC bus for $5 round trip. I think this service started last year or the year before that. The train station is located at 1500 East Main Street and the bus picks you up at 9th and Broad Street www.ridegrtc.com/FrontEnd/Download_Files/get_on_bus_downloads/Rt102x.pdf
