11slataus Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I'm not new to Six Flags Great America (I go about twice each year but very rarely later than August). I have a friend who's never been there and I'm wondering when it would be best to go. I went last year for Fright Fest and that was epic, but EXTREMELY busy. Didn't even make it to every coaster (sadly never got on Viper )and Raging Bull had a full queue plus a line out on the midway. The haunts are definitely worth going for. What I'm wondering is when is the park least busy: September or October weekends. I loved Fright Fest, but if the park is less busy on a September weekend, than I'd rather get to go on all the coasters. If there's some weekend in October that's generally not packed for whatever reason, that would be ideal. Just wondering if anybody who goes frequently could help me out. Flash passes are an option but personally I'd rather not spend the money.
aesthyrian Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Early Sept weekends are much better than fright fest. Unfortunately, the park is closed until the 29th which is the start of fright fest. The least busiest day will probably Thurs Oct. 25th, considering they are only open 4 hours and most people won't pay full admission to go for only 4 hours. If you want to hit every coaster at this point I think a flash pass is needed.
deathbydinn Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I've heard that friday nights at Fright Fest aren't too bad, and that's usually when the actors are at their best. As for the weekends, the later you go the more crowded it will be. During last years Fright Fest, Raging Bull went from having a line not even half way down the staircase on the first saturday, to nearly reaching Viper two weeks later.
