john kohal Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I was a frequent visitor to rocky springs during ww2.Specially liked the roller coaster and carrousel. It was a meeting place for most service men in the area.I was from california and the people around Lancaster sure treated us swell especially the salvation army.If there are any one that was around the park in that period I would sure like to hear from them.My e mail is kohal@att.net thanks
gisco Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Have you seen this report? Rocky Springs Amusement Park
Wayne0731 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 John, I wasn't born yet in WW2, but my father and mother were both from this area. My father was in the Navy, assigned to submarines. His name was Wayne Shearer. My mother's maiden name was Janet Koller. And from what she told me, she spent every waking moment at the Roller Rink at Rocky Springs....and from the pictures I saw of her when she was young...she was a looker...lol. Glad the people of Lancaster treated you so well...even today, for the most part, they still treat visitors well here...and in Lancaster, military people are still heroes. Thank you for your service. Wayne, Jr. PS, spent some time in the USAF myself...
