Gerstlauer1 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I found this: http://vhcoasters.wordpress.com/2011/05/12/waterfall-flume/ Looks sick! It's amazing how they keep coming up with things, only coaster enthusiasts have wet dreams about! Concept Art!
sportscapper Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Wow! That's very interesting. I'm wondering if this is similar to the flume ride at Holiday World where it's an elevator style?
Evan1127 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 No, the flume actually travels through the "rock", which is actually the back of one of the park's hotels. Edit: Here is a photo of the other side.
theGrayZone Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Very cool! I would love to see one or several overhead aerial shots of this... for geography and perspective. The waterfalls are picturesque as a rear facade to the hotel. What if there were random, glassed-in, observation areas sticking out and cantilevered from the waterfall wall? Initially it would just be water dumping above and all around... but walk far enough out over a glass/transparent platform and hmmm. Although eventually I'm sure algae, streaking, and general water/atmosphere funk would prohibit view... leading to another fun idea that failed to the realities of overhead costs and un-forseen maintenance issues. But, but, but... I'd like to walk out about 15 yards through a glassed-in portal for the views and such. ... Minds eye win ...
Shavethewhales Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Man, that's sure an ugly looking flume for such an extravagant set of man-made water falls. You'd have thought they'd spend a little more attention on the flume itself. Other than that though, all I can say is good lord...
