DJeXeL Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take a ride aboard the miniature garden railroad at the Germany Pavilion in Epcot? If you’re like me, you have daydreamed of being a pint-sized passenger on the G-scale trains as they chug their way through the German countryside and past the quaint village square. Source: Disney Park Blog I love Garden railways and think this is awesome.
chemical_echo Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 That's awesome; thanks for sharing that. I always love watching the trains at EPCOT. I've always wanted to build a garden railway....maybe when I have my own place.
DJeXeL Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 That's my problem as well. I have A LOT of HO scale track in my garage (I'm talking boxes upon boxes) along with 30+ cars and locomotives. I just don't have the room to set it up in a layout cause I live in a condominium.
ILoveRides Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 ^ Try having that much G scale in an apartment! My trains have become display models until I can get a big enough place to run them someday. I haven't bought trains in a few years, but apparently LGB went bankrupt and was purchased by Marklin. They recently resumed distribution, and I'm happy you can get LGB still, but it seems like the prices have almost doubled. $600 for 1 RHB passenger car is pretty crazy IMO. Kinda makes me wish I had gone with a smaller scale (but G-scale is impressive).
DJeXeL Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 You're correct G-Scale is very impressive when done with a unique layout other than an oval. I feel your pain though.......I have 8 locomotives at about $200 each just sitting around in boxes That not even mentioning the 22+ freight cars I have sitting around as well. Oh well when I buy a house I hope to have a garden railway similar to the one in the video below.
ILoveRides Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I hope you aren't planning on riding roller coasters ever again, because with a layout like that you'd be spending every waking moment building and maintaining it! That layout is awesome though. Did a club make that or an individual?
DJeXeL Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 HaHa I'd never give up coasters and yea I believe it's a club in the UK.
