MG Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hey, This is kinda random, but we are in random, so no matter. Basically reply with a little bit about what you're doing at university and where, if you are still at uni or not it doesn't matter. I just find it's quite interesting to see the educational background of Theme Park Review and also to learn a little bit about Universities around the world. I'll start it off. If anyone also has questions about uni, put them down and we'll try and answer them. University: The University of Bristol, United Kingdom Course: Civil Engineering The University of Bristol is located in the South West of England. The university dates from 1876, so is not particularly old compared to some universities. The university buildings are in a beautiful victorian gothic style. The University Of Bristol was largely initially funded by the Wills family, a family which had a huge tobacco empire. The university is very scientific based, with the largest faculty probably being the faculty of engineering, which was also the first faculty. The university is currently rated as second in the UK by The Guardian for Civil Engineering. The university is sometimes referred to as the "Oxbridge Rejects" university, as a large proportion of its undergraduates originally applied to Oxford or Cambridge (including me lol). Some of its halls of residence even seek to mirror this, of particular note being Wills Hall, which is built in a style very similar to an Oxford College. Complete with beautiful sandstone buildings, and a wooden panelled dining room it is very pretty. Despite its appearance, the building actually only dates from 1928. The Wills Memorial Building, the central hub of the university. And Wills Hall
ParkTrips Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 this just came up not too long ago: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=56609 I suggest a merge! [to answer, I'm a management major at Georgia Tech - started off in engineering, only to realize that you have to really love it to want to do it for a career, as good money can be made in fields that are much more enjoyable]
MG Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Ah, that's cool. Yeah, sorry I did do a quick search of the forum to check for anything similar, but being English, I didn't think to search for Major lol.
