Screamin_Eagle Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Decided to join in the festivities with Club TPR on their stop to SFSTL today, and glad I did. The day started off well, Rob and the folks from TPR are a nice bunch of people, I felt very welcome, everyone was very friendly and I didn't feel left out of the excitement. thanks everyone on the trip! We got into the park around 830 and we were walked back to Mr. Freeze for a behind the scenes look.. we got to tour the station house plus we got to go down into the launch tunnel which was a thrilling kind of thing to do ( for us coaster nuts) didn't get to hear to much of what the engineer was saying but it was still interesting and cool to be in the tunnel not to mention it gave me an opportunity for a nice shot of Freeze that not everyone has a chance to get.. after leaving the launch tunnel We walked around the back of the building, got to hear some facts and stories ( if you were in ear shot) and then we moved to the track area for some more photo opportunities. after the tour, we were walked over to Evil Knievel for some ERT and with the smaller sized group, it made for some fantastic ride time! I got in about 9 rides on Evil Knievel with 2 of them being completely alone which is always a treat to any coaster enthusiast.. after the ERT on EK I headed back to get some time on Freeze, it was broken down when I got there, train was stuck in the launch tunnel, stopped on the way back in. after it got fixed I rode it 3 times, was nice not to have to leave the station to ride again, air was working in the station which was a great thing. after my few rides on the Freeze I headed back to the Boss and took a ride on that one, got over there and there was nobody in the station yet, but I knew I wouldn't be riding the car alone since they wont run it with out at least the first car filled up. finally more folks showed up and we were off. as usual the Boss didn't disappoint me in the least bit, always enjoy the ride.. after riding the Boss, I headed back to the Eagle for a ride or two on that one and dare I say it, the Eagle was riding very rough!! I was in the last car of the red train, and I don't think in all my years of riding the eagle have I ever had rougher rides. that train was jumping on the track like crazy, that coaster needs some TLC in a bad way. after my 2 rides on the Eagle I headed over to the Mine Train, then it was time for lunch. we had a nice lunch in the picnic grove, good food. after lunch was over I couldn't take any more of the heat and headed home. I had a great time with Rob and everyone from the TPR trip, and look forward to taking one of the trips with the group in the future. all of the folks at the park that helped out with the event did a great job and I thank them all.. Thanks Rob for making a stop at SFSTL the sign on the pavilion where lunch was served inside the Mr. Freeze station looking down towards the launch tunnel inside the launch tunnel of Mr. Freeze another shot of the launch tunnel of Freeze looking out from the tunnel at the track leading up shot of freeze how the train looked for 2 of my rides today, I took this shot from the last seat on the coaster. having the ride to yourself is a great experience! the empty station of the Boss
