Hello there TPR! It is me 1pizza14 and I will finally be posting my first ever TR on TPR. Enjoy!

On monday July 12 2010 me, my mom, and my sister decided to take a 2 day/3 night trip to Cedar Point. We live in Toronto Canada so it was about a 6 hour drive with a few stops. We were staying at the Castaway Bay Indoor Water park.

Monday:

We left Toronto at 10 am and were on our way to Ohio. Border control was TERRIBLE!! We had to wait about 1 and a half hours to cross. A few hours later we arrived at Castaway Bay... We checked in and went to our room. It was not very pleasant. The room had disgusting red carpet and the room was very small and dingy. At $300 a night.. we should have gone to somewhere else. After we dropped our bags we were all starved so we decided to hit up TGI Fridays right next to the hotel. We arrived at TGI's to find a 50 minute wait. We decided not to eat there and we just had some snacks in the indoor water park. We then decided to check out some of the slides. In the water park there was... 3 body slides, a master blaster type slide, a wave pool, and a water playground with 2 more body slides. Overall the water park was quite nice.. but it was lacking some large slides. Most days the water park was quiet after we visited cedar point. It was 10:00 (water park closing) so we went back to our room and went to sleep getting ready for the next day.

Tuesday:

We woke up grabbed our bags and went down to the hotels breakfast. The breakfast was $10 per person and it was a standard continental breakfast which should have been free. At 8:00 we headed out to Cedar Point. We were so early we parked directly in front of the entrance. It was only 8:15 at the time and the park opened for hotel guests and platinum guests at 9:00. Right at 9:00 we sprinted to Millennium Force only to find out it was broke we then ran off to Maverick which was open and had a 30 min wait. Maverick was a VERY fun ride. It was long, twisty, curvy, and the entire ride was surprising. We got off of Maverick just before 10:00 so we headed over to dragster. When we arrived there was a massive queue of people running all the way to the Iron Dragon pond/lake thing. We were informed the ride is testing and will open in 15 minutes so we waited. When the ride finally opened it was about an hour wait. I chose to sit in the front since it was my first time on Dragster. Dragster is an amazing feat of a ride but it is short. :/ We then went on the Corkscrew which was very very painful. After that we decided to go on Disaster Transport which is the most sketchy ride I have ever ridden! We walked right on and went up a rusty lift hill that made really weird noises. The rest of the ride was weird, bumpy, and jerky. We did the Wicked Twister and the Giant Wheel and decided to have lunch. After lunch we went on the Cedar Creek Mine ride which was a nice relaxing ride through the forest. After we did Gemini which was a very fun ride because you are racing the other team. In the end our train won. After it was getting very hot (even though it was overcast the entire day) So I wanted to ride Shoot The Rapids. But guess what... it was broken after that we took a ride on the blue streak and headed back to our hotel for dinner. Most rides were walk ons that day and I really enjoyed my first day at Cedar Point. Now on to day 1 pictures.

Sorry to hear about Castaway Bay - I would have assumed that their rooms would have been quite nice for $300 per night. That is definitely a bit steep considering you are not actually on the peninsula like you would be at the Breakers or Sandcastle - guess it is more about the indoor water park and the fact that it is still tied into CP/CF.

I tried to book a room at the Breakers for July 2nd and was quoted about $240 for the basic small room with one queen bed. We opted for the Quality Inn across from CB on Cleveland Road and were disappointed in that one for $124. Paint was peeling off the walls and bathroom ceiling and the continental breakfast (which was free) had very little food left when we got there around 10:00. There were about five tables that overlooked the Rain indoor waterpark, which looked it was packed into a 20'x20' multi-story room. I think I counted two waterslides although there could have been three. The hallways reeked heavily of stale cigarette smoke even though we were in a non-smoking room. All in all, it was pretty ghetto with the exception of the Thirsty Pony restaurant that was tied into it.

As far as early entry, we have never had the greatest luck with that. First time, we went for Maverick and it broke down so we lost all ERT waiting in line. 2nd time, we opted for MF and that went down and we lost all ERT time. I think the only time we have had success was when they had Raptor and Max-Air open. I think we got three rides on Max-Air and three on Raptor.

Sorry about the delay in this update I have been quite busy recently.

Day 2: We woke up Wednesday pretty tired at 8:45. We decided to go to Mcdiddys for breakfast as the hotel one wasn't that great. After some hotcakes at Mcd's we headed out the the park. By the time we were at the front gate it was around 9:15 so we decided to head out to millennium force as it was broken almost all day yesterday. Millennium Force had about a 45 minute wait but I thaught it was worth it. I personally enjoyed Millennium Force quite a lot. I sat in the second row but I didn't seem to get that much airtime (maybe because I put my lapbar down too tight). Anyways MF is quite a good ride but IMO I think it might be a tad overrated. After MF we headed over to Mantis. Mantis was an excellent ride which will make Mantis one of my favorite stand up coasters. Mantis had about a 25 minute wait but it was well worth it. Next we went over to Iron Dragon. Having only a 5 minute wait for the front seat we went on it 2ce. Iron Dragon is a pretty fun ride through the trees and then the pond helix at the end. I really do hope Cedar Point doesn't take it down. After we took the train over to the Mean Streak stop and got off. I got some interesting shots of MF and Maverick while on the train. We then went over to Mean Streak which only had about a 15 minute wait. I personally thought Mean Streak was one of the best woodies I have ever been on. I found it quite smooth however most members on TPR will disagree completely. It was probably smoother because i'm used to Mine buster and Wild Beast up at Wonderland. Anyways after MS it was time for Skyhawk which was almost a walk on. Skyhawk was VERY fun. It swung very high and had quite a few gs as you were swinging though. After Skyhawk it was getting hot so I went over to see if STR was open and well... IT WAS! I was also happy that Cedar Point would let you ride barefooted so you wouldn't have to get your shoes wet (cough Wonderland I hope your listening here). I went in the single rider lane as my mom and my sister didn't want to ride. Anyways the only problem with STR is that the last seat of every boat was closed. Also STR doesn't have air gates you have to push through yourself and before the boats are dispatched a castmember has to check if each gate is closed. Anyways there were only 5 single riders in front of me however it took almost 25 minutes surprisingly. It seemed that everyone riding STR was with an evan number. Anyways I did manage to skip a 1:30 minute line. STR was a VERY VERY VERY fun ride. Probobly the best flume type ride I have ever been on. I really liked the beginning where you were in the misty tunnel. The other thing I liked is that you dont get 100% drenched like on Snake River Falls. STR was an amazing ride. We then decided to have some lunch. After lunch we headed over to the Power Tower. We did shot 2 times and drop 1ce. Overall Power Tower isn't amazing nor that scary. My mom and my sister were not feeling too well (probably the heat) so I told them to wait as I rode the Magnum. Magnum was awful. I found it really bumpy and painful the entire ride. The tunnels also KILLED your ears with the sound. Overall Magnum is not a very good ride. I was also dissapointed because I couldent see Canada. Overall I had a blast for my first time at Cedar Point. I have wanted to visit there since I was a little kid and now I finally have. I really hope to return some day. Overall I did all coasters except for Raptor, Jr Gemini, and Woodstock Express. Thank you for reading my first TR. Now on to the pictures...
