Intamin10 Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I went to Darien Lake Memorial Day weekend with a few friends and family . I have not been to Darien Lake since 2004 before I started working at Cedar Point. So since I was not going back this summer to Cedar Point I was happy to get back to my home park and see how it is now that it is back to Darien Lake, now that it's not a Six Flags. The first ride we rode was Ride of Steel that use to be Superman Ride of Steel. They started to paint some of the ride, that looks great. Maybe they will paint the rest over the winter. they had one train going and it was the blue train, the red train was getting a new chassis. One of the ride host said the the blue train is half red train and blue train all painted blue. After we rode it, now I think they need to put a new chassis on the blue train, it sounded bad. So then we saw that the Predator was going up from being down because of Mechanical.so we went and got on it. The Voyage trains look great on it and also ran great on it. That was a good move by Darien Lake.so The we went over to the OCC Motocoaster which we have never been on. It looked like fun, and it was fun to ride. it was not that fast but it had a lot of great turns, overall a great ride. After that we had some great lunch in the park. Then we went and checked out Darien Lakes New Sea Lion Splash show. It was a fun show it is great for the whole family to watch. Then we went to one of my favorite coaster the Viper, that was painted over the winter back to black, the way it use to look when it opened back in 1982. It was painted green and black in 1999 when Six Flags bought the park. So I was happy to see it black again and also able to ride it, It is great as normal, still one of the best Arrow looping coasters in my book. Then after that we made are way to The Mind Eraser. I don't know why but I love SLC they have a great layout and fun to ride some times, and this time this ride was good. They don't call it Mind Eraser for nothing . So after that we needed a break to rest from that so we rode the The Giant Wheel, and so I could take some photos on it. Then we went back to ride OCC Motocoaster again, I got to ride in the front this time and I loved it. We couldn't ride the Boomerang because they were waiting on some parts for the train, so maybe next time, but the new paint job on it looks great. Over all, the park was nice it was clean and all the rides but Boomerang were running so that was good. The new Splash Town looks great and can't wait to try it out the next time I go to Darien Lake.
