Canobie Lake's Caterpillar

I was wondering if anyone knew the history behind Canobie Lake's Caterpillar. I know there's only a handful of these left. They still cover theirs too. I think the park got it in the 60's. I was wondering if anyone knew who they got it from and maybe how old it actually was. Any help would be appreciated.
