Power Tower E-Stop

I went to SFOT yesterday and an unusual thing happened to me while riding Superman Tower of Power. I was sitting on the blue tower and when we completed the first half of the ride, (launch and drop), and headed to the top of the tower for the second drop, I noticed that the car hit the top with more speed than usual and stopped quite violently. We sat at the top of the tower for a couple of minutes and then they lowered the car down about 3-7 feet at a time until we reached the bottom. They then offered us another ride on the yellow tower. The ride ops said that it had something to do with the cable. I was wondering what might have happened at the top of the tower?

Any one of hundreds of different possibilities. Obviously nothing to be concerned over if they continued to load the ride.
