More Downhill Adventures for Blue Mountain!

Ontario’s first Alpine Coaster just one of the new attractions to launch summer of 2010!

Blue Mountain Resort is excited to announce that a $2.5 million dollar project, to expand summer attractions at the resort, is underway. Construction of the first two attractions will commence in early spring 2010 with the intention of opening in late summer 2010. The first stage of Blue Mountain’s new attractions park will include Ontario’s only Alpine-Coaster, as well as a Mini Golf Course designed with the landscape of the escarpment in mind.

For adrenaline junkies, the Alpine-Coaster seats up to 2 people at a time and puts the rider in the driver’s seat, literally, controlling the speed and velocity at which the cart travels down the escarpment. Prepare for an exhilarating ride with the track starting at the top of the Glades area zigzagging you down through the trees into the Village area of the resort, ending at the top of Grand Central Lodge.

The Alpine-Coaster ride is described by its German designers, Wiegand Slide, as exciting and varied. Jumps, corkscrew turns and waves built into the track make for a thrilling ride down the mountain! The design and technology allows for this ride to run on its track in most weather conditions – winter included!

For those seeking a challenge on the ground, Mini Golf will expand across the base of the Smart Alec ski run, providing another great activity the entire family can enjoy. This popular pastime is a staple at many resorts and Blue is thrilled to be adding Mini Golf to our already popular green season activities.

The location of these attractions will be centrally based at the resort, allowing easy access for pedestrians in the Village and overnight resort guests. Spectators can witness all of the excitement as they ride up the Gondola or relax on a Village patio.

The Alpine-Coaster and Mini Golf are an exciting beginning to a multi-step master attractions plan which includes plans for: Rock Climbing, Euro- bungee, Tree Walk course, Mountain Top Play Park and a Zip Line ride. The schedule for construction of these attractions is yet to be confirmed.
