jedimaster1227 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Kolmården has sent us a press release regarding their new addition, "Safari." Celebrating its best year ever, Kolmården, Scandinavia´s largest Wildlife Park, is proud to announce a new uplifting attraction – an open gondola lift that brings people up close and personal with its safari animals. “SAFARI is a shining new example of what we do best at Parks & Resorts Scandinavia - create unique, high-quality and innovative experiences to delight our guests of all ages”, says Jan Roy, president and CEO of Parks & Resorts Scandinavia, the consortium behind Kolmården. He continues, “We had a fantastic 2009, and are thrilled to be able to make this kind of investment off the back of a deep recession. This is our largest investment to date – 120 million SEK (close to 16 million USD.) – and a great way to celebrate and show our appreciation to our visitors”. The world’s first zoo gondola, which will be opened to guests in 2011, is a unique and thrilling adventure that takes you through Kolmården´s safari park. It brings their travelers as close as possible to animals from around the world including lions, bears and wolves. Magnus Nilsson, park president of Kolmården adds, “This is a historical moment for the park and it´s guests. Imagine being suspended in mid-air with wild animals from the four corners of the world hunting, grazing and looking back at you curiously. Heart beating and thrilling adventures are guaranteed for our guests next summer!” FACTS ABOUT SAFARI Ride speed: 1.5 m/second, on embarking 0.15 m/second Track length: 2,640 m Ride time: 26.5 min.
