Orlando-based SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment (formerly known as Busch Entertainment Corp.) said today that it has elevated Jim Dean to president of its Tampa resort, which includes both Busch Gardens and the Adventure Island water park. Dean, 52, had previously been executive vice president for retail operations at SeaWorld Parks, overseeing merchandise and culinary operations for all 10 of the company’s parks. Dean succeeds Donnie Mills, who last week was promoted to chief operating officer over both of the chain’s Busch Gardens theme parks (Tampa and Williamsburg, Va.) and Sesame Place (in Pennsylvania). Meanwhile, Universal Parks & Resorts, the parent company of Universal Orlando, last week appointed Michael Silver president of global business development. Silver, who had been Universal’s senior vice president for business and legal affairs, will be responsible for identifying new growth opportunities and overseeing Universal theme-park licensing agreements for existing parks in Japan, Spain and Singapore and future resorts in Dubai “and beyond.”
