Koolkid Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 This is a twisty, fast-paced wooden roller coaster I've been working on for a while now. It's got some crazy turns and alot of airtime. Enjoy Feel the sting of... COBRA! Really pleased with how this one turned out however the supports, once again aren't great. newtrack2 track, editing.nltrack Cobra2.nltrack A slightly improved version, very little difference however this one is a bit smoother.
MontuWillOwnYou Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Were the supports custom? If so, I think you did a fairly good job on them. Then again, I haven't seen many woodies with custom supporting.
Koolkid Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 No, they were auto supports but I did adjust them/ change bits I think needed changing. Thanks , Any comments on the coaster itself ?
themeparkman25 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Positives: -Layout! Wow, this was a very exciting, very thrilling and very awesome layout. I have to say I loved every second of it. Very good job here but my only concern is that this coaster would have been better fitted as a GCI simply because of the MF trains as compared to the PTCs'. -Pacing. It did a very good job of holding speed through the layout and keeping it exciting. Good job. -Building technique. The track wasn't the smoothest (ride in the back, you can see the pumps) but it was overall built fairly well track wise. Negatives: -Supports. To me these were your biggest let down. On many of your overbanked turns, you lacked supports on the backside to properly support the track from the forces exerted downwards. I tried talking a picture but it didn't work, so bare with me with my type diagram. /| For those turns, you really only had the | which to me doesn't support the track right. Just some insight that I have. -Turns. I know I said the layout was awesome, but some of the turns seemed force and out of place. Also keep an eye on the forces in the back, you had some high lat and very spikes towards the end. Overall, this coaster was awesome. Very good job! I will be looking forward to more coasters from you.
Koolkid Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Wow, thanks very much for the very detailed review I have quickly tried to improve on the things you've mentioned. About using the Millenium Flyers instead of the PTC's, I did try them both out, I just prefered how the PTC's rode, this version however does have the Millenium Flyer trains. The ending has also been improved/ toned down. Thanks again I really appreciate your comments! Cobra3.nltrack
themeparkman25 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 ^Oh, I wasn't saying that you should change it from the PTCs' to the GCIs', the track was just more characteristic of a GCI. It worked fine for sure, just kind of a personal preference. Your tweaks on the track also seemed to work out well, so good job. I didn't realize how steep the lift and drop were until I rode it that second time! Keep up the good work!
Koolkid Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks very much , I'll make sure I do It's quite depressing/ annoying when you work really hard on a coaster and spend quite a lot of time on it and 1 person comments...
themeparkman25 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 ^But I have been singing the praises of this ride, so it should make up for it? Don't fret about it though, there are only like 15 people that actively post in this thread.
Koolkid Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Ha, yeah . And I guess, I thought there'd be more people than that, I would just appreciate any little comments. Thanks again very much for yours though
