MG Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hi Everyone, I decided to take a break from eating Cream Teas and reading the Sunday Times to bring you a brief insight into the town where I live, Windsor. Windsor is one of the oldest towns in the UK, still young at around 1000 years old. Windsor is home to Her Majesty the Queen, who frequently visits. Windsor is/has been home to also James Blunt, Elton John, Terry Wogan, Alex Pettyfer and many others. It often hosts state visits such as US President George W Bush and French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Anyway, Welcome to Windsor! PS: If you have any questions about Windsor, any travel plans etc don't hesitate to ask me questions! I spy the Queen is at home today! If the Union Jack flag is flying then she isn't at home; but if the Royal Standard is flying then she is at home! The River Thames and Windsor Castle The Long Walk and Windsor Castle A view of Windsor Castle from the Great Park One of the areas in Windsor Great Park One of the cobble-stone shopping streets close to the Castle The Royal Windsor Station (now mostly shopping centre) The tower where hangings used to take place. Also used to take place at the site of the previous photo. Queen Victoria outside the front of Windsor Castle
BelizeIt Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Ah Memories............ I traveled down those cobblestone roads a few years back. Windsor Castle was an amazing site. Some friends and I took the full tour of the castle, and had a great time. I can't recall if the Queen was home or not, I'll have to look at my photos and see if I spot the flag. Thanks for posting!
