Thread Question

I know this seems stupid but I can't figure it out. When you post something on a thread and you include something someone else, how do you get it to say so and so wrote and then have their writting in a white box? When I copy and paste it doesn't do that. What do I do?

I'll hijack this thread to ask a broad related question, instead of creating a new one.

 

How do I turn off the automatic notification I of replies in threads I've posted in? It's mildly annoying, not come across a BB board that has it as a default setting, and I can't for the life of me find where to switch it off in my profile!
