davethefish Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 For my trip today, and the fact that I was in the south of the country, I decided to hit Brighton Pier. A seaside town is not complete without a big ole' Victorian pier, and Brighton has rather a large one (to say the least) The pier has 2 arcades, 600,000 doughnut stalls, 12 trillion (scary, large) Seagulls, and a small fairground type park at the end of it, with 2 rollercoasters, a waltzer, a big dropy/swingy thing, a bouncy/spiny thing, a haunted house, bumber cars and another spiny thing, and a log flume. Oh yeah, a Merry-go-round and a Helter Skelter (both closed, one half dismantled) The pier runs on a token based ride admission system, with some rides taking more tokens than others. Today they were running 30 tokens for £20, which is good because the rides take a few tokens! (plus the arcade does zap your cash as well, be aware! or just don't take girlfriends who love arcades:P) A nice bright, shiny morning! But this being England, Don't trust what you see.. Great name for a shop, have to stop there next time I go there, just to have a Grindlestonker's special There it is, hiding in the distance! See what I mean about the weather... The glorious main entrance. Before going in, we did have some chips from the chippie, and a GIANT gherkin, but the wind stole the gherkin from us, blowing the tray off the edge of the pier and condemning the pickle to the briny deep... That made little Doodles sad That machine is DANGEROUS! Probably spent over £100 on that type of game over the years! Damn you pacman/puzzlebobble coin dropping machine thing with its pretty screen and lights and sounds... I'm such a sucker... But strangely I am still yet to spend more than a pound on this game... Air hockey? A race? chance to win tickets? GET IN THERE! But the machine was broken, even though I put my money in, I didn't get a go, soo... WATCH DOODLES GO!! GO DOODLES! (number 2) That game was hard to play.. She lost... Don't Eat Yellow Snow, Or play a game with it in either... Cheapskates! Euro's in the machine! Anyways, time to move onto the THRILL ZONE!! Galaxia, an up and down bouncy spiny ride that plays rock n roll! Colourful shiny lights, loud music.. Damn they got me a again!! wooo shiny Doodles either looks scared, or hungry. Either way, fear is involved somewhere! That ride was pleasantly fun, in a flat ride bouncy up and down spin round with flashy lights and music way. Next are the Bumper Cars! (Or Dodgems, choose your name as you see fit) Meep Meep. Doodles got stuck in reverse, little did she know all you had to do was turn the wheel a little bit more... Needles to say I one that one! (shhh doodles...) No prizes for guessing the name, or type of this coaster! Scary... Remember, don't leave your legs or arms behind! Always take them with you if they fall off. The flume type thing, but it was too cold to go on it today, maybe in the summer! The big droppy/swingy thing! It scared me, it wobbled a lot, and it was a fiver per person, so too expensive to ride (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) Next is the Turbo Coaster! I believe you guys call these things 'death machines'? It sure hurt my shoulders! First inversion credit of the year! Death Machine to Doodles hair! Woah, I never knew my mum was a model! (ok, thats evil..) That dude did well, lasted a whole 18 seconds! No idea how long I would last, I'll try next time! Ok, we ran out of credits to go on this ride... WIDEBOY BENCH - THE RIDE! There wasn't even a queue or anything We did a side-trip to the Sealife centre, after finding a 2-4-1 voucher in a magazine we found, I'll post those later! Brighton pier is a good, fun place to go with a few mates, it even has 3 bars on it!
