Angry_Gumball Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I noticed this morning that my WMP is now making videos look equivelant to a NES's graphics. This has happened eversince I updated my video card's drivers. My settings are the same as before I did the update. Below is (Well, was) an example of what how the images are showing up. (For some reason, PrntScrn won't capture the images shown in the player) So, would I just reinstall Windows Media Player or what should I do? OK, so I've tried reinstalling WMP and then tried a system restore to a date earlier than when I installed the new drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ummm, seeing a piccie would help, I'm not really sure why updating your graphics card drivers would mess things up. The only things that have ever messed up video displays for me have been when installing or messing with codec packs. You've already tried the usual things, reinstalling WMP and using system restore. Some other ideas may pop up if we could see a picture As for PrintScreen not showing up the video, that's because video is shown on an overlay layer usually hardware accelerated so it's beyond Windows reach. To take a screenshot in WMP that shows the video try this: Open WMP, go to Tools|Options... Go to the Performance Tab Drag the Video Acceleration Slider all the way to None Click OK Then try the taking a pic using PrintScreen again. Remember to set the slider back to full after you've done taking pictures! Hope that works and we can help more !
Angry_Gumball Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 When I did the slider, the pictures came up normal, believe it or not. Thanks for showing me that!

Hehe, well that wasn't intended to be the solution but hey if it works It definitely looks like a driver issue then, which is odd considering you rolled back. What card do you have ? NVIDIA or ATI ? You might like to try raising the acceleration slider bit by bit to see where it starts to go all stupid
Angry_Gumball Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 Currently, I'm using an NVidia. I pushed the slider to the next level (which was half way) and things are running fine. For some reason, Real player did the same thing so I dropped the video acceleration down a bit (again, halfway) and things were running fine. I'm thinking maybe the driver maxed out all of the settings which were probably not compatible.
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Definitely an odd one, at least you can view videos again....
