IggyACE Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 So we decided to not do Idlewild, Hershey and DelGrosso's over Labor Day weekend and stayed close to home and go camping. I'm shocked that the world didn't stop revolving with my decision but I didn't want to make the boring drive though Ohio for a fourth time this summer. We packed the camper up with hopes of getting a camping spot without reservations. Drove as fast as we could and got down to Kankakee State Park just before five O'clock and without any problems even got our favorite section in the park. Friday we just kinda took it easy and Saturday was our busy day. We set out on a 4 mile bike ride from the campground to Rock Creek ( a creek with a bunch of rocks in it) which dumps into the Kankakee River. From there we ate some ice cream and went hiking down to Rock Creek. See all the rocks in Rock Creek? So once out of Rock Creek we turn left and hike alone the Kankakee River which the kids decide that the river needs a few more rocks back in it... Along the Kankakee River there are many cliffs carved out over the years and we do a little mountain climbing along them... So we come to another inlet to the river and go exploring up this creek which is dry this time of year... *^remember this photo^ * Up this creek (without a paddle) is this lone rock cliff standing there.. Well all the kids have done this over the years..... He is getting to damn big for this!!! Even Casey joined in on the fun... Remember that photo? High up there....on the cliff top.... 1..... 2..... 3..... (Next photo not for the faint of heart)......... JUMP............. *disclaimer--no kids where harmed in the making of this trip report. * After is heart slowed down a bit we made the four mile bike ride back to the campsite... We relaxed by the fire making smores and pizzas (thanks Lori).... We had our own little fire poker over the weekend. Damn she's HOT...... Thanks for reading! Craig
