edboxer Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 First - great little park with a lot of rides on the water or on platforms above the water. Great free parking a 5 minute walk to the gate. I was in Indy/Bloomington for Drum Crops International World Championships. I had a few free hours on Friday morning so I decided to go to Indiana Beach. Talk about in the middle of nowhere!!! 20 minutes on a two lane country road with nothing but corn on either side! The Rides: (rated on a scale of 0 to 10) Steel Hawg - 6. 1 ride. Nice little ride. Cool trim brake before the initial plunge. Not as jerky as I expected. But very short with a long line. Is it worth the trip to IN for the credit - no. Cornball Express and Hoosier Hurricane - the best part about these two coasters is that they are so intertwined that you cannot tell which track is which and which coaster you're on. Cornball Express - 6. 3 rides. Short, but fun. Very nice drop off the lift then spends a lot of time in turns and helixes. Nice banked turns, but very little air. Would have preferred a few more drops to the ground. It seemed more like an enlarged mouse than a small woodie. Hoosier Hurricane - 8. 3 rides. By far the best coaster in the park (that I rode - Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain was closed, Galaxi had a really long line). Nice drops into the water, great turn around, great double up after the initial drop and nice air on the return.
verticalzero Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I heard this: The Hoosier Hurricane has only been running one train lately following an incident that took the other train out of service. According to our source no effort is currently being made to repair it and even worse, the plan may be to just use it for spare parts for the one remaining train for the rest of the season. If this is true, get used to the longer lines. ----------------------------------------------------- Seems daft that a Park should cut a ride's capacity in 1/2 to save money or use the other train as spares, repair the coaster train and have 2 trains running.
