mcjaco Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Guys, Just a reminder. I had to 24 hour ban someone today for responding to spam. DO NOT RESPOND TO SPAM! - If you see SPAM on the boards, do NOT respond to it, do not link to it, do not do ANYTHING with it. The mods will delete it shortly. If you see a SPAM thread that has been up for an extended amount of time (more than two hours as an example), use the "report post" button to alert the moderators. DO NOT use the "report post" button for ANY OTHER REASON! If you respond to a spam thread, or use the report post button for any other reason, you may be given a temporary ban for 24 hours. Use the Report button, if it's posted for a SIGNIFICANT amount of time. One of the mods will get to it sooner rather than later. I've updated the Posting Rules Sticky, but this should be well known by all of you by now. Thanks, Matt
Théo the little french Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I have a little question: why do you ban peoples who respond to spams? Some of them don't understand they're talking to a spam, so the punishment seems a bit too much harsh.... After all, it's only my point of view and you must have reasons to do it, but it's kinda bad I think...
mcjaco Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 ^ It bumps crap threads. Two, it's pretty easy to determine what is Spam. It's usually a poster with one post (the Spam post), and nothing but links. The one today, was nothing but three links to a "garden center." Use your common sense. If you think it's Spam, don't reply. If it is, it will get deleted, and you won't be sitting around with a ban.
rollerboy Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I got banned once for responding to spam, I wrote "SOMEONE SHOULD DELETE THIS" thinking I was helping. Robb explained to me about it and now I will never make the same mistake again. Jordan.
