pianojohn Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I will be in San Francisco from July 24-26th for the San Francisco Improv Festival. Details: Mark Baratelli's Improv Cabaret (Orlando FL) Mark Baratelli improvises a 45-minute cabaret act with no audience suggestions or planning. It's 45 minutes of original storytelling and song supported by accompanist John B. deHaas. Anyway, I am planning to visit Six Flags Discovery World and Great America on Thursday and Friday July 24th and 25th. I basically have all day until about 6pm to do the parks. I am mainly looking to get all the coaster credits in. Any advice as to which park would be less crowded on which days? I figured that weekdays would not be too bad as opposed to visiting on Saturday. The theatre where I am doing the shows is about 45 minutes from each park. Thanks! And if any San Fran TPR people are out there, check out the show. It is very funny!! More info here: http://sfimprovfestival.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=100&Itemid=51
shepp Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 It's easy to get all your SFDK credits pretty quickly, assuming they have all the coasters up and running. Longest wait has tended to be on Kong, tho since Tony Hawk is new, that'll probably be crowded. Medusa often opens a bit late. V2 is rarely crowded. And if you really have to ride the Boomerang, there it is. On a normal weekday, you should be able to knock off all the coasters in a coupla hours either day, no worries. Edit: Hell, I skipped Roar, for some really obscure reason. Lines are highly variable on that one. But it's in a far corner of the park, so if you hustle, it should be no problem - assuming they're running more than one train.
Mechanic Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 If it were me, I'd do SFDK on Thursday and CGA on Friday. The previous post is also right on the money about what to expect at SFDK. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting all the credits and multiple re-rides on everything at both parks. You will likely have some wait for THBS, but I doubt it'll be too bad on a weekday. Have a great trip!
pianojohn Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 So I will be in San Francisco next week! Does anyone know the easiest (and probably least expensive) way of getting from downtown SF to Great America and SFDK? I know there are buses and trains that SAY they run there, but if there is anyone who actually has taken them, I would appeciate any advice. Thanks!
