Scream162 Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 I got to experience DCA's version of Toy Story Midway Mania this weekend. Here is my review: First of all, after seeing pictures of DHS' version, I was excited to see what DCA's queue had to offer. Well, besides the Mr. Potato Head animatronic, there's not much to look at it. Once you go through the entrance, you make a right turn towards Mr. Potatoe Head and then enter a ton of switchbacks. The only real theming in this section of the queue are posters describing each of the midway games... basically what is on the construction walls. The actual ride itself is a lot of fun and very re-rideable. My biggest beef with the attraction is the lack of detailed theming. Just like DHS', each wall of the inner-show building is just a 2-D painting of popular children's board games or something from Toy Story. I was hoping for a little more than that considering DCA spent more on their version. Then again, a new show building had to be constructed. Even everything in the station is a 2-D painting. Where the vehicles enter the show building at the beginning of the ride there are some painted curtains and lights which I think would look amazing if there were REAL curtains and string lights instead. Another thing I don't like is the constant starting and stopping of the vehicles. The vehicles take off pretty quickly and then stop suddenly further down the track. Doing this about 20 times per ride and the spinning can get pretty nauseating. I had to take a slight breather after each ride. A few of the CMs have told me the secrets to getting a top score and when I tried shooting the secrets I still didn't get a very high score. My top score out of the 7 times I've been on it is 182,000. The current record is just over 345,000, set by one of the attraction's CMs. Overall I think the attraction will be very popular with Guests. And thank God it doesn't have FASTPASS. Sorry, photography of any kind was not allowed during the test runs, so there are no pictures to go along with my review.
