Based on my personal experiences, I would do Blackpool Pleasure Beach (Blackpool with a B) and Alton Towers.

BPB used to be free admission and pay-per-ride (optional wristband), but I think they changed it recently so there is also a cost for admission. You can still get wristbands for the rides, and if you're into credits, there's a spinning mouse at the South Pier (walking distance of BPB)

For hotels, I'm sure Robb and Elissa will know. For the UK trip, we stayed on site (Big Blue at Blackpool and Splash Landings at Alton Towers). Alton Towers hotels come with the perk of ERT on a coaster or two in the mornings (just be prepared to do a lot of walking).

Your last question is a little unclear. Are you asking if someone can give you a ride or are you wanting to look at train/bus fares?

You can find them on the AT website too, but here some b&b websites, all located only a few miles fm AT :

We slept in the Rowanlogde. Very friendly people and great breakfast.

Last time I checked, all b&b were priced btwn Gbp 18 and 30 pp/pn.

No idea whether it's easy to reach AT by public transport.

I know Ryanair is serving Blackpool but perhaps not from where you live. Liverpool and Manchester are somewhere in between BPB and AT. Probably you can fly in to one of those airports and look for train/bus connections from there. Or rent a car.

Hard to predict : you can have all kinds of weather in the UK in May. I would say, the chance for good (dry) weather is better than 60 %, shower days 30 % and 10 % for really bad rain days. Temperature average must be near 20° C.
