We arrived at the park just before 10:30 in the morning. It was the earliest we have arrived at the park this year. But our early arrival wasn’t for that ride rotation of Xtreme Frisbee, the first fun of Cannonball, or the fist shot of Star Blaster. Instead we were there for the memorial of Tom Marrow the parks operation manager. After checking in and being given a pin with black ribbon we walked through the park gates and shoed a few guests to the ball Field were the memorial was taking place.

The Memorial was nice. Many friends and co workers were on hand to pay there respects to Tom and his family. I was surprised to see a few park owners on hand. There were a lot of kind words and a final toast of Crown Royal, Toms Favorite drink.

After the memorial service we opted to spend the rest of the day at the park. What better way to honor Tom’s memory. So my brother and sister in law bought tickets and I already had one. I used the Family rest room to change. From there we headed for rides.

My Sister in law is pregnant so we hit up 2 rides we know she could go on. So the Flume and Mine of Lost Souls was first up. Flume is always fun got splayed by the new water sprayers for the first time. Nice addition gets you a little wet but not drenched. Mine was enjoyable but needs some work. The mine also has hand rails at the exit of the ride.

My sister in law grabbed an ice cream while my brother and I hit Frisbee. Good program solid spinning and height. From there we all got on the train and took it to the other side of the park.

We hoped on the train and headed to the other side of the park. We were making a point to hit the slower rides at the park. Lake Cruise was the only one we really didn’t hit. A nice ride but I wish they would operate the train a slightly higher speed.

We all jumped on the sky ride. I know it’s not that long but the ride does take you over and past some of the parks rides. It’s a great way to get off your feet since it’s a longer ride time wise then most of the flats.

The performers from Fly were out front climbing on the star and doing small stunts. They do this to draw people to the show. I made myself known to a couple of them and took a few shots.

The show, our last of the season, was enjoyable. There were a few changes since Chad was off that day. Della did s short segment in his place. The shows lighting had been reworked. It was much easier to see this time around. Took a lot of pictures but can only do so much with the camera I have. Talking to the performers after the show mostly Francesca. They hope to be back. If they are they want to add to the fly show. There was a mention of a trampoline run.

Well we walked through Boston and got splashed by the tea party line was a bit long so we skipped it. From there we headed up to watch CL5.

Dan wasn’t feeling well today so the show was shortened and Francesca performed a song as well, Ashley Simpson’s “L.O.V.E.” which seemed to get a good response from the audience. We talked to the performers a bit more after the show again.

We had Dinner at Portafinos. Ordered a whole cheese pizza, I refilled my mug, and they each got a drink. It all came to something around $20 bucks. Pizza was good but not as good as normal. Wasn’t the twisted crust normally at the restaurant. But it’s getting to the end of the restaurants season so it’s to be expected.

It was Thursday and the Canobie Talent Search was that night. So we walked over to the midway stage and staked our claim early. Since there was some time my brother and sister in law stayed at the stage while I hit a few more rides.

I made a quick loop going on Psychodrome, Skater, and Caterpillar. I got back to the stage as they were finishing up interviews with the preview winners. They did one more competition that night. A Young girl from Nashua won. After reintroducing every one they started the final’s round.

The competitors ranged in age from 8-21 and from locations as far away as Ohio. All the winners had something to offer but some there talent showed there age. But as they get older and stick with it will be worth seeing. While most of the performances went off with little problem there was the occasional missed line. Nerves were high but most were able to overcome it all and strive.

The winner was a young girl with an unbelievable voice. Alyson performed “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” the version from American Idol. The performance was fantastic, left everyone in ahh. She won the Canobie Talent Search award for 2007, a limo ride to a recording studio, recording time to record a demo CD, and one of her songs will be played on 93.9 The River. One big thing about her song choice is I was told by my brother that Tom had a nick name of the Great and Powerful Oz.

We watched the Last show of CL5. We were hoping to see the laser but it wasn’t operating that night. We meet up with the shows performers and said out goodbyes. We wished everyone a great off season and hope to see at least some of them park next year.

My sister in law was tired so we made our way to the exit. I hoped on the Round up as my Final ride for the night. One strange thing is they are now having you load and unload on the same side. Why I have no clue in the long run it will only bring down capacity. but I enjoyed my ride none the less

I took a few shots of the Frisbee at night before leaving. We were getting in the car as they announced they were closing for the night. We were able to make it out with little traffic.

In all it was a day of mixed Emotions. The Memorial survive was nice. And maybe it was the tone of the day but the day seemed like it was just barley missing something. The weather turned out to be great it was a pleasant surprise to catch the Canobie Talent Search that day.
