Ccron10 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Part 1 Strasburg Railroad along with some modeled flat rides. While almost everyone's having a great time in the midwest I ended up in a similar place with tons of corn! After arriving on Sunday, the next day we had breakfast at the nearest Perkins. BEST-PANCAKES-EVAR!!!!After we got to Strasburg, we went to the railroad museum from which we heard, got remodeled since the last time I was there which was nearly 10 years ago. The next day, they were going to have some kind of circus event and they were setting up 15 to 20 railroad models. One of them almost looked like an actual amusement park! It had a Zipper, Huss TopSpin, Wild Mouse and Ring of Fire! Another one had a working model Intamin Drop Tower along with a coaster Dynamix Model. From now on I'll do the Robb method of explaining my trip. I spy an Intamin! Stay Tuned for Pt. 2 The actual museum and other parts and photos tomorrow! Looks like some good wood. More random Rides. They had some random Carousel horses and tiger. The Huss TopSpin along with some other flat rides. Just a basic S&S drop Tower. The Zipper looked good but could've been better. The detail on the Ring of Fire ride is unbelieveable. Cool! A Wild Mouse! I wonder if it works? I'M IN HEAVEN!!!!
Vffreak07 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Man those are amazing! But that makes me wonder, who would take the time to build something that detailed?! *looks at ccron*
Ccron10 Posted August 11, 2007 Author Posted August 11, 2007 ^ I nearly had the urge to go to the nearest model train shop and by my own model ride! Part 2: The Railroad Museum. This was the most boring part of the trip IMO, but that's because I'm not a big train freak. Part 2.5 coming up soon! Inside the engine room. That's one big a$$ model train! If you know what comes out of here, e-mail dan! If you win, you get whatever comes out of here! lol More carnival ride models! Looking down the side of the train. This is another set with flanges. One set of wheels. This one has no flanges. For those who wonder what's under a train. The boiler. The inside of a passenger car, similar to one that I'll be riding on later. BIG model circus tents. I have no idea what any of the following trains are.
Ccron10 Posted August 11, 2007 Author Posted August 11, 2007 Part 2.5: More Trains at the railroad museum. More Pics/TR. Cool Art Deco entrance. Strasburg Railroad is next. Museum entrance. It was just remodeled. Electric powered. The trains. Passenger cars, cargo and boxcars. Yes that model on the bottom of the case is k'nex. That government spending must be hurting the museum. We next went upstairs to look at this other exhibit and also the viewing deck. Now there's model train for me! lol Another old train. This is a little hands on exhibit on which you can drive a train. Didn't work though. That's some good wood. lol The side of the plow car. Inside of a plow car.
Jim S. Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 That Wilde Maus is a commercial model (that one is discontinued, the current version is slightly different) from a German company called Faller. If put together carefully, yes they do work.
