Jim Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 My wife and I want to escape from the kids for a couple of days and wanted to fly to Denver on Aug. 4-7. We want to go to Winter Park and ride the alpine slide (love them) and scenic ski lift and then drive back to Elitch's for the rest of the day. Another day we would like to spend most of it at Water World and then top the night off at Lakeside. We try to avoid long lines when possible so my questions are would it be better to do Winter Park and Elitch's on Sun. and Water World on Mon. or vise versa? Elitch's doesn't look that popular and I know water park lines get rediculous in the summer. Also I can't get Elitch's website to come up and I could not get them to answer the phone so I need to know what their hours are on Aug. 5 & 6. I don't know if this is the problem but I have a Mac with Safari browser and I couldn't get Lake Winnie's site to work either and they told me some browsers didn't work with their site yet. One last question is Lakeside's hours don't show a closing time. Does anyone know what time they normally close on Sundays and Mondays in August? Thanks in advance. - Jim - 322 coasters - 89 parks - wife 264 coasters, 4yr old son 47 coasters, not quite 2 yr old has 5
robbalvey Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Jim, Have a look at our Denver update we did in 2005. See if that gives you any ideas: http://www.themeparkreview.com/denver2005/sfeg/sfeg1.htm --Robb
Guest Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I'd do WP/Elitch on Sunday. Although you might hit more traffic on 70, I would probably avoid Waterworld on the weekend.
Homer Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I can say that Waterworld would be crowded on the weekends since its one of the more famous water parks out there. As for Elitch's, you should get all of the credits there easily. Although I went on a Monday, most rides were 5 minutes or a walk on, it should be easy to whore out EG. Are you planning a trip to Lakeside too? [EDIT: Whoops, forgot to read the last sentence. Stupid me... Anywho, I assume Lakeside is usually open late. Half of the reason to visit that place is for the beautiful neon lights at night! Too bad I never visited there. As for Elitch Gardens, ask away, all I can say is Flying Coaster is just god awful, Twister II is mediocrity at its finest, Sidewinder has awesome air, the Boomerang isn't reliable, Mind Eraser isn't THAT bad, and Half Pipe is awesome.]
